I don't even mind if it's a climate change allegory. It just looks poorly made tbh. I assume the best jokes are in the trailer and it isn't funny at all, and if they're going for an action movie, there are way better ones out there already with the exact same concept

I'm not prejudging it. I'm just not hyped for it. It could be great, it could suck.

It does seem like the over the top and in your face ignorance they are showing in the trailer will get annoying.

... Maybe I am prejudging it

That looks pretty unfunny. Weird role for DiCaprio.

That was a great trailer. I know Netflix was happy as shite when they scored this movie.

It's a satire/black comedy.. Adam McKay was nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay for his last two movies even though Vice really wasn't all that great, but I have faith with this story and this cast

Yea has a very similar feel to the big short and vice which were great imo.

Pass.

I can watch celebrities calling half the country stupid science deniers on the daily. It's about as cutting edge comedy as SNL announcing who their next Trump impersonator is this month.

Well the argument is valid because McKay is extremely political and it’s already been stated by McKay himself that the film is one big allegory for climate change. It’s literally about politicians/regulars folks not taking climate change seriously and turning a blind eye. It’s pretty obvious

I wonder if Leo was hanging out on his private yacht when he was asked to be in this film.

Nah, he was burning a lifetime of fossil fuels jetsetting around the world on his private plane.

I'm getting a Mars Attacks vibe from this one. Hot director, all star cast, big budget satirical take on an apacolyptic event... that falls flat.

it's a climate change allegory

A phenomenon so dangerous and deadly that the people propagating have had to re-name/re-brand it 3 times in 40 years because everything they predicted kept being blatantly wrong.

So, finally, they just renamed it into a redundant, meaningless term that sounds "scary and scientific", when, in actuality, the term Climate Change is no different than someone saying Water Wet or Snow Cold or Sun Hot...

Leftist politics are McKay's religion. If Norm Macdonald didn't like you, then there's probably a good reason.

Well, I'll go ahead and turn a blind eye to his message.

My goodness some people just want to force politics into everything. Is that what Armageddon was?

A League of their Own was just about how women are underrepresented in professional sports.

The Patriot was actually a nuanced assault on people who are overly nationalistic.

Seabiscuit was a metaphor for how the elite mistreat the lower class and also a message from PETA about the evils of horse racing.

See? I can do it with every movie too

The Wizard of Oz has (incorrectly) been called an allegory on populism and monetary policy from the 1890s.

Cowardly Lion - William Jennings Bryan
Scarecrow - American farmers
Tin Man - American industrial workers
Yellow Brick Road - the gold standard
Wick Witch - pro silver movement

etc etc LINK

I mean... it's on Netflix so it'll be there for me to watch if I ever get that bored or need noise in the background.
