Do you think WB is making a big mistake keeping that release date for Dune 3?

I'm guessing they thought Marvel was falling off a bit, but the avengers films are still pretty bulletproof

For those that asked, @dunemovie Part Three going to do VERY well, but what it gave up not exiting a pissing match was all Dolby and branded PLF screens. Also will only be on the 4th or 5th biggest standard screens instead of the biggest. Could and should have done even better!

Based on presales so far, @Avengers Doomsday going to win Dec. 18th weekend by a 3.2x or 4x to 1 ratio. Not a knock on the sales of @dunemovie at all, but the winner of the weekend is set. There is no real competition between the two, shows you what a juggernaut is incoming.

It’s not Dune’s fault the Russos couldn’t finish the movie in time and moved it to December. WB picked this date for award recognition for Denis, Zimmer, and the technical categories. The three weeks of IMAX exclusivity was a bonus. Pushing it next year would mean a significant delay because the first few months are normally a death sentence for awards. Sinners and EEAAO were able to overcome their March releases, but it’s an uphill battle.
It’s like comparing the numbers for fast food and fine dining. Nobody was expecting Dune to win, but I guarantee it will be a better movie.

I have no doubt about that. I'm just surprised they didn't take the week before that Jumanji moved out of. Dune will do well, but the issue is it loses a ton of screens that would otherwise be available to them.

I’ll be watching both. Have 70mm IMAX tickets for Dune for a Dec 15th early screening and Doomsday tickets on Dec 18th. I also have two rewatches of Dune booked with friends and family, so I’ll be doing my part

Always a dumb decision to me. Should have moved up a week or back two
I will be seeing Dune, I doubt I see Avengers in the theater, but I know I am in the minority

Dune has all the Imax screens locked down for a few weeks. They'll be fine.

my honest opinion is that they will both make tons of money and people will just see more movies than they normally would.

I guess their logic is that if you are thinking about going to see Dune 3 you probably have seen the other 2 already (hopefully) and are pretty invested in going. If it were the first Dune I think they probably would move it.

I'll see both in theaters. I'm sure I'll take the family to go see Doomsday, but I'll be flying solo for Dune because the wife and kid have zero interest in it.

It’s a great release date and it’s gonna make a boatload of money, like The Odyssey. But it would be foolish to think that’s an honest reflection of the health of the MCU. It’s far from it.

Dune will make 800-900mil, Doomsday will make well over a billion but Dune will be the better movie. Funny thing is Doomsday’s budget is headed for 800mil so it’s more about re-energizing the fanbase and getting butts in seats more than it is turning a huge profit. With Doomsday they need to reset the universe and end the multiverse stuff so going forward the “health” of the MCU will depend on how that’s handled.

Where are you getting this info from?
Posted on 10/26/26 at 4:52 pm to RLDSC FAN
Not from Twitter bots so you wouldn’t have seen it
Posted on 10/26/26 at 4:53 pm to Madking
Cool, so I'll ask again, where are you getting that info? It's a pretty simple question for you
Posted on 10/26/26 at 4:56 pm to RLDSC FAN
And judging by 100% of your history this isn’t a question. Once I produce the sources you will dismiss them as illegitimate even though you’ve been caught repeating far less credible sources yourself.

You're quite a defensive person lol. I asked you a simple question.

Doomsday won't be the jumpstart to the MCU that they're hoping.
Posted on 10/26/26 at 5:10 pm to SouthEasternKaiju
I agree with that. The good news for Marvel is they're very lucky to have gotten the Xmen back, and that Sony let's them use Spiderman. Can you imagine if they had neither of these options?
