Skyler Shuler of DisInsider was

paid a lot of money by Disney to give glowing reviews.

quote:

Well, Disney has had the last laugh with Snow White - after YEARS of backlash, they've produced one of their strongest ever remakes. Rachel Zegler is an enchanting lead, all the story tweaks work well for a modern audience and, after 88 years, it's a reimagining that makes sense

quote:

Critic Christopher Mills writes on X that the year’s biggest surprise so far is that this “controversial” and “hated” film is actually decent.

Such a glowing review...

These first reactions are always hyperbolic. The real reviews will be released tomorrow. Corinthians is just trolling the board.

Every one I've seen has been some level of bad.

I am probably the only person here who liked the live action Lion King. The rest have been pointless and or bad. I have high hopes the Lilo and Stitch live action one will be good because my kids sure as hell want to see it in theaters.

Itll make a little money. I dont have kids and wouldnt have seen this movie regardless of why made it. Disney left a lot if money on the table though by going the route it did

So, how long until we hear that Ziegler is a shoe-in to be the next James Bond?

It didn’t offend me. Visually it was impressive. I’m not a hardcore Lion King fan though.

I thought the live action Cinderella was fine. I liked Aladdin more than most.

Is this really a big feat?

How many do we have?

That's like saying your bout of diarrhea is not so bad because you still have some solid chunks in it.

Would you believe this "Snow White" (2025) is the TWENTY THIRD live action Disney remake of one of its animated classics?

TWENTY THIRD

what will be hilarious is when they start making animated remakes of their live action remakes of animated films.

that said - most of these "live action" remakes are 95% CGI anyways, which begs the question - what the frick?

When I hear "modern audience" it generally means gays or gender cosplayers.

I liked it ok. It was almost a shot for shot remake so it would be hard not to like it unless you just disliked the original story or didn't want it made (it was pretty unnecessary).

I also liked both live action Jungle Book's. Just took them for what they were. The Lion King, Jungle Book, and Toy Story were my favorite animated movies as a kid so I liked them almost by default.

I think Mufasa and Beauty and the Beast are the only other live actions that I've seen.

I did too. The Netflix one Serkis directed was traumatic to say the least.

Yeah I've always thought they should just call them remakes and leave out live action.

If you are asking why remake them just for CGI. I think it's because kids dont appreciate the old animation as much as our generations did. They wanna see the version with the cool graphics like Avatar.

My vote for the best one of these. I think it is mostly fine.

If I can't trust someone from a site called DisInsider to give a fair and honest early review not paid for at all of a Disney movie that is tracking poorly, who can I trust?
