5th film? There are currently only three films, ending with Indy and his Dad riding off into the sunset.

I will never understand people having a problem with aliens, and not face melting Jew ghosts

Aliens? What are you talking about?

The alien thing would have been fine had the script not been such shite with a completely wasted villain, the terrible (and obvious) back stabbing old time "friend" that we've never seen before (use Sallah if you want to shock us w/a betrayal for fricks sake), and the poorly handled return of Marion.

I'll also never get over Lucas and Spielberg flat out lying about mostly using old school practical effects in the promotional run up when it was a CG fest filled cartoon with mediocre matting, horrible sound stage lighting, and very average animation.

Give it the James Bond treatment.

I'd love this

I really want to like this idea...and it's what I think ought to happen with most superhero movies instead of trilogies that involve rebooting a character in almost the same way we've seen the last time...but how much of Indiana Jones is simply Harrison Ford BEING the guy, and how much is it the character himself?

Unless Indy was much different, I think you'd end up having a guy come in and essentially do a Harrison Ford impersonation...which would likely suck. At the same time, taking the character in a different direction would mean alienating everyone who love Indy as he is in our mind's eye now.

Thankfully they stopped at three movies...

My feeling is that this is more of a James Bond situation where someone else can carry the torch. I could be wrong but you take a Tintin story and nail the casting I bet it would work.

After I see if Disney gets episode VII right, I will know where to adjust my expectation level for new Indy movies.

I think an argument like this is made for alot of characters. But look at the bond franchise. Connery, Moore, Brosnan, Craig.

They're all different but i love the bond franchise. Of course I'm an action junkie, but they all play the roll well.

With the right actor/director/script i think you could do it right without just doing a sequel/prequel with a Ford impersonator.

Of course it could be done horribly wrong as well.

Yeah you take that risk with every reboot/ actor change. But it works sometimes. I thought the new star trek movies were pretty awesome.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Her Majestys Secrect Service, the first Bond w/o Connery, wasn't received very well either. While it had something to do with casting a terrible actor, it was also fans revolting at a non-Connery Bond.

So they bring back an older Connery, and then fans were a little more receptive after seeing how bad that was.

Well Indy fans got their shitty Indy film with an old Ford already so I think if they can cast fairly well and have a great story(story being the key more than casting), then I think that would set us off in the right direction.

I never get peoples issue with the aliens. Aliens were the very least of this movies problems. I prefer the religious themes because I am religious, but aliens were not the fourth films problem.

That's what I'm saying...what made Bond work is that they WERE different. Sure, same character but played differently by different guys.

I have a hard time seeing where Harrison ford stops and Indiana Jones starts to be honest. Would the studio be happy with recasting and allowing the new actor and director to find the new voice for Indy, or will they be desperate to just add a ruggedly handsome actor to a fedora and jacket with a whip and call it a day?

I did too...but I'm not a Trekkie. I was familiar with ToS obviously, but never a huge fan. I think JJ pissed off a whole horde of Trekkies with his new takes on that universe. And with Indy, EVERYONE is a Trekkie I'd think. The reach of that character, and the good will and warm nostalgic feelings that character brings are hard to quantify.

Not saying I'm hugely against...just that I worry Indy is so driven by Ford's performance that the to can't be separated. would be nice to be wrong, because those three movies were perfect.

Raiders: Ark
Temple of Doom: Some Indian stones
Crusade: Grail

There ARE no other movies...stop trying to ruin my childhood!!

Hmmmmmm.....

I dunno. I want to see him play John Clark in Without Remorse, if hollywood would ever get off their collective asses and stop remaking shitty 80's movies instead of adapting one of the best action thrillers ever written.

You could almost do two movies out of Without Remorse.

Superman Returns found a virtual Chris Reeves clone and it would've worked if the story didn't shite the bed.

That being said, I'm all for a more seasoned actor bringing something new to the role.

Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. But...

I would like to see a younger Indiana if they could find the right actor to pull off his dry humor and rugged look from the original 3. But my luck they do this idea and then cast Shia
