I had octopussy on a recorded VHS as a kid and watched it 50 times if I watched once since we lived out in the country with no TV. Now that I am older and have seen them all and with the Daniel Craig Bond films I now think he was the worst. It was just so goofy and all of his movies seemed set up to be a vehicle for his jokes. I like the darker, serious Bond.

There was never any age where he should have played Bond.

Never heard of Cannonball Run? Wtf, stop what you're doing and watch it. It's one of the greatest ensemble cast cross country racing comedies you'll ever watch.

That's gotta be a fairly narrow field, doesn't it?

Watched Moonraker last night because I’m watching the series in order with my kid. Cubby turned Bond into a cartoon character with Moore and the series suffered greatly until Tanya Roberts unwittingly made Moore admit it was becoming gross for him to be with girls 30-plus years his junior.

I get that it was a product of the time, and being burned again by another George Lazenby was a consideration, but it’s a shame that it happened.

That being said, Cannonball Run is great, and Moore is fine if n it replicating 007.

I tend to agree. My least favorite Bond actor and it's not close.

Moore was always a good sport about the role and wasn't above poking fun at it and himself from time to time.

As to his run as James Bond it was the time the movies were made. Anyone cast as Bond would have done the same thing. Besides, if you go back and watch the Sean Connery Bond movies a lot of them are hokey as hell too.

Grim and dark James Bond is a relatively new version of the character. Roger Moore's run as James Bond doesn't bother me any more then Adam West's run as Batman. Different time, different take on the character.

He basically played the Saint, just reskinned as Bond.
