Roger Moore was typecast as Simon Templar in the old TV series, The Saint. I could never see him as 007.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore were easily the two best Bonds. Best villains, humor mixed in, great sense of style, great gadgets, etc. They set the standard and now we have this very dark humorless stuff that is really not unique at all. Connery/Moore = Marvel; the new guy = DC.

No. For your Eyes Only is one of the best.

No.

Live and let die and the man with the golden gun are two of the best bond movies. The last ones from Moore are some of the worst bond movies.

Roger Moore should have been replaced several movies before he finally retired. He got way too old and it got weird with all these young chicks he was pulling.

That said, if the scripts are shite and gimmicky then it doesn’t matter who’s playing bond. The producers are the ones that ever cheapen the brand.

If you can’t honestly assess the grit and wit of Connery’s 007 vs Moore’s camp in everything past LALD, I don’t know what to say. They used a freaking slide whistle in MWTGG and a pigeon doing a double take at a gondola riding through the streets of Venice. Connery’s Bond never came close to doing anything like that.

Moon raker was horrible. They should remake it and follow the book

Agreed. One of the many issues is that it was a reactionary movie. Moonraker wasn't even a thought until May 24, 1977. At the end of TSWLM in 1977, the closing credits read that "James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only." When Star Wars came out, FYEO got bumped for Moonraker...with Space Marines. FYEO got moved to 1981. Broccoli was trying to capitalize on the success of Star Wars, just like others at the time. It didn't work.
