Man I had very low expectations for this show but it’s definitely a welcome addition to the Dexter universe at this point. Enjoying it a lot. Doesn’t have any right to be this good. as mentioned above it’s not on the same level as Dexter but it doesn’t feel like some cheap money grab either. Young Dexter is really nailing the mannerisms, etc. now too.

Bump since other Dexter thread.

E7 came out the other day. This show is pretty good, I recommend so far. Captures the essence of original Dexter imo.

They nailed the casting with young Dexter. Shocked how good this show is considering the recent Dexter content has been less than stellar.

The guy doing Dexter and Batista fricking nail the mannerisms and speech patterns

The Masuka actor is trying too hard with the laugh. You would think the OG laughed every other line.

Absolutely. The casting was great across the board. Not a big fan of Patrick Dempsey, but for the younger versions of original Dexter - Dexter, Batista, Masuka, LaGuerta, Harry (Christian Slater) are all top notch, Deb is a little less, but still good.

I've said before, but they could have taken the easy route and made a certain (no spoilers) character flawless, but they didn't and I respect that decision.

Btw, E7 has a real twist in it, that surprised me.

My wife is a big Dexter fan and is loving it. I'll probably jump in when the season is over and she does her rewatch.

The girl who plays Deb would get all of it.

The final season(s) of that show was so horrendous it’s permanently dead to me. I won’t even go back to rewatch the first few good ones.
Dexter left me with the stank breath and murdered any sequel, prequel, other universe, whatever.

Completely understandable. I didn't watch New Blood because of that and I hate prequels, but Original Sin is pretty fun.

It’s amazing how much the dude playing Bautista looks like OG Bautista. Deb was cast a little Thicc but I’ll allow it. LaGuardia casting was nailed also. Liking this way more than I thought I would. Slater is perfect as Harry.

Just finished episode 8

This show is pretty good. It feels like the OG Dexter in a lot of ways.

I’d rank it below the first 4 seasons of Dexter but above the last 4 seasons and New Blood

This actually finished pretty well

Nice to finally have a decent Dexter finale for once, even if it was a little on the nose.

Long story short, this story is more about Harry and his failings that led to Dexter being the way he is, in a tragic sense. The original sin is Harry's.

I think they will make more seasons.

I just found out the actress playing Debra is 31.

Finally started this on a flight. 3 episodes in. I'm enjoying it. Soundtrack is awesome.

And holy hell, they nailed the Bautista casting. It's creepy how good he is doing.
