Holy shite, everything I'm saying is being misconstrued. Yet, when I go back and read it, I can see where you cocksuckers could get what your replies say from it.
I don't know much of anything about these films, admittedly. I will go away now.

Eat a bag of dicks. Tom Holland is the best live action Spiderman so far. Homecoming was a fantastic movie.

quote:What a cop out. You know how many movies are based on other material? Books, plays, comics, biographical... Do you think that's something new? And much of these stories are original. Ironman isn't this prominent, this isn't how the stones were found, Thanos' motivation, etc.
As for the lazy part, are these movies based on ideas/stories that already exist in the comic book or superhero genre before they're made into movies?

yeah i mean the Marvel movies has re-created teh comic universe, right?
Iron Man wasn't a big name when I read comics in the 90s and now he's an A-level superhero in the comics

quote:Which is why the "lazy" argument is so odd to begin with. It's not like the MCU was first. Batman has been made 100 times. Superman has been made 20 times. X-men. Spiderman. Fantastic 4... All came before MCU. And only a handful of those would be considered "good".

Then Ironman comes along where the character and actor fit so perfectly that it blows up because it was character driven, a contrast to the "take me seriously" world of DC, and even though the villain was bland the story was written extremely well. MCU wasn't even a "thing" at that point. It grew out of that model with adjustments to the comics because someone was smart enough and worked hard enough to see/implement the big picture (pun intended). That's not lazy at all. It's quite ambitious.

Original MCU Avengers was Cap, Hulk, and a bunch of 3rd tier characters. Marvel literally made chicken salad out of chicken shite.
I had actually never seen the GotG until they announced the move.

I would agree ell.
Iron Man was a big success, then Incredible Hulk came out and no one cared. Iron Man 2 came out and it was a success again. Then Thor came out and no one really cared. Then Captain America came out and still wasn't that big of a deal.
Then the Avengers came out and everyone cared.
Since Avengers came out, there's been 12 movies, not including IW. Those 12 movies have averaged $920M.
The Iron Man movies started off strong, but Hulk/Thor/CA didn't really give them much confidence going forward, but they trusted themselves and the plan they had, and i'd say it slightly paid off for them......$16B later.
The fact that someone like Iron Man, Captain America, and now Thor are almost as popular as Batman/Superman/Spider-Man is what shows how much they have achieved.

But I would not be shocked if BLACK PANTHER gets nominated for Best Picture and breaks the glass ceiling for genre films.
I don't see it, but that would be an epic boom.
I would love if at least the nominations, nominated the best, but tried to be honest about "Best." When a great horror comes along (Get Out was a rarity) it deserves it.

I mean sure, when compared to Batman and Superman in the culture at large, most Avengers characters are low on the popularity pole, but in terms of general superheroes Tony and Thor are A Tier. Black Widow and Hawkeye are major players that any comic book fans know.

How can you be tired of movies you claim you've never watched?
