Any semi long thread on here is the same 10 or so posters arguing back and forth. Pretty boring
What I do? Just let them have it, the threads. I don’t care. I chime in sometimes but most times don’t and don’t care.

Just not anything woke or pushing The Message. Which sadly isn’t a much since Hollywood has codified woke propaganda into most everything they make now.
Ok thats fine. Noone is asking you to enjoy anything. We're asking you to leave us alone so we can talk about things we like.
You love godzilla, im not gonna go in a godzilla thread and make 300 posts about how godzilla is a bad movie if i dont like it.
I will let the people that enjoy it talk about it and ill go talk about justified or the bear. It's not that hard

Maybe if Hollywood didn’t go full pandering to retards in nearly every production, this wouldn’t be a constant topic. Ever consider that?

You DO understand that the politics is being inserted by studios, writers, directors & not by the fans, right?
IPs are being used, Trojan horse style, to carry messages or altered outright with the intent to get fans to accept things not remotely intended with these stories.
I want to talk about shows and movies for the right reasons too! But I can’t when we’re forced to watch freaking race or gender swapped characters and narratives that make no sense to a story other than fill some arbitrarily diversity quota simply because it fits a modern Hollywood agenda.
I don’t care that you don’t see it or don’t want to acknowledge it, there are many fans who refuse to sit down and shut up.
* no serious person should be downloading this.

Ellen Page would have made a better Odysseus than Matt Damon.

Godzillla doesn't push an agenda, though, does it? The movies on here that catch the most discussion are usually the one's that do. You don't get to be left alone to talk about things you like, that's not how things work.

Someone started a topic on Emily Wilson being dissatisfied with the film instead of jumping into the big "Discussion" topic. You were the 3rd or 4th reply and it was just a melting meme.

haven’t noticed anything but I’ve also avoided the Odyssey thread.
It's 100% the Odyssey thread. If you critique something/anything factually negative about the movie, the fanbase attacks. They take it personally.
It's odd, because it's like a rabid fan base from a sports team.

Depends on the era, but there are the general 'mankind messes around with nature and it comes back to bite them in the arse' type themes. But nothing to the extent of what Hollywood is going through.

Ironically, this would be a topic better suited to Poli, the OT or even Help boards.
I've participated in my share of MTVB bitching about partisan hackery in entertainment but it's due to the continued prevalence of that hackery in the face of how horribly unsuccessful most of it is.
Part of the discourse here is on what defines quality in entertainment. Quality in this context can also be thought of as "beauty" because it is in the eye of the beholder.
For some, they want to be lectured on the social cause célèbres du jour (or, at least, comforted by being lectured on how bad the other side is for being on that opposite side). But even for that crowd, most will eventually tire of it, especially if it becomes omnipresent.
For others, they are okay with a little lecturing as long as it's fairly unobtrusive (obtrusiveness will generally be determined by their agreement or disagreement with the entertainment's stance).
For still others, they don't want any.
All of those stances delve into a subjective aspect of "quality".
For instance, does race-swapping or gender-swapping a known character from an IP add or detract quality? For most people (as evidenced by box office sales and ratings), it detracts because the fact that it was done becomes part of the message of the offering for no other discernible reason than some self-serving attempt at the director/producer/writers/whomever trying to cloak themselves in social justice glory.
In other words, it's done (at least in part) for them to believe they are showing the world how magnanimous they are. That's neither an interesting nor fun story, especially after the 4,000th time.
So, yes, it's going to come up because it's an aspect of the entertainment industry they themselves have created and have tried to tell us it's "quality".

Would this even be a thread if Chris Nolan didnt use a ridiculous cast? Probably not.
The Odyssey is the straw that broke the camels back.

I disagree. Threads like this come up time and again, especially when some piece of entertainment is being pushed as a blockbuster and there's some blatant form of social messaging in it (the live action remake of Little Mermaid with a black Ariel or the remake of Annie with a black Annie and black Daddy Warbucks, for examples). There were threads of pushback against the swappings and threads of pushback against the pushback.
Race and gender swapping are readily identifiable due to being visual but there are those who either agree with the "inclusion" aspect or are willing to ignore it just to enjoy the rest of the entertainment (think of cutting around a piece of bread which has something on it you don't like as opposed to throwing the whole piece away). As long as Hollywood continues to do it (especially for no other discernible reason than "muh social justice")...
...then it's going to continue. As long as it continues, threads and posts of pushback will crop up as will threads and posts pushing back against the pushback.

Just perused your posts
None of them experienced any hate or even pushback
So what are you crying about?
Just weird.
People have complained for like 15 years that the M/TV board has become "bad thing", and needs to go back to being "beforetime thing"
It was always this, but there are just more people now
