Bright (Netflix) was so good

Imagine if Lord of the Rings just continued on and a movie was made in 2017, and you have Bright. Orcs, Elves, Humans, and other mythological beings living together in a form of harmony after a war 2,000 years ago vanquished the Dark Lord.
Without giving away spoilers, the movie is a fun fantasy filled with foul language, movie violence, and plenty of action. There is also quite a bit of humor in the movie as well, which is nice because the movie handles the subject matter with care while also not taking itself too sersiously.
For fans of fantasy and action, I highly recommend.

Guess this'll be the newest movie the Movie Board hates on without seeing. That's fine. It was a fun ride if you like fantasy.

I haven’t watched it yet, but most people seem to like it.
The only people who hated it seem to be the critics.

I watched even though the reviews were bad. It is a decent movie. I will watch the sequel.

I watched it last night thought acting was good but writing was not good overall I would say 5.7 out of 10

Agreed. Good movie with good acting but the dialogue wasn't very good. All of the cops aside from Will Smith and the Orc made me cringe.

I wish Martin Lawrence would have played the Orc and thy would have had the love hate banter from Bad Boyz.

When I first saw preview I saw Smith in the cop uniform I got excited thinking it was bad boys 3 lol

Watched last night. ‘Twas not bad

Yeah, it was descent and a nice concept. The world needed more of a backstory though, and yes, the dialogue was very cringe worthy at times.

I watched it.
It wasn't nearly as bad as the critics said.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but I dug it.

Just saw this for the first time.
Man this movie is fricking awesome. Better than any fantasy movie I've seen in a long time. Netflix frickin knocked it out the park. Teddy fricking ballgame.
I hope they make a whole new universe out of this shite.
I'm gonna be a full on fanboy of Bright. Absolutely loved it.
I have one idea what the critics were bitching about. I'll assume they're all pissed because Smith plays a white LAPD cop in 1992 with a black metaphor orc as his partner.
Can't wait for the sequel.

Did no one on this board watch this movie?

I started a massive thread about this movie a couple weeks ago.
A lot of people liked it.

I saw it a few days ago. Really liked it though I thought the ending was a bit rushed
Looks like they’re going to do a sequel.

The first 20 mins was literally unbearable. I was about to turn it off.
SPOILERS:
At first, all the beat cops are stale over-the-top racist caucasians. The rich people who control the world are snobby "white" elves, as the non-white blue collar cops drive thru their section. Both police superiors are females, one a blatino captain, the other an asian sargent. Will Smith's wife, of course, is depicted as reasonable, while he, being male, is selfish & stubborn. And the fvcking 10 y/o daughter had to teach her dad tolerance cuz females, even young, are always wiser than alpha male characters. This is all in the first 20 mins.
Then they completely dropped all the (subtle & unnecessary) politics, and it became a fun ride of action, mystery and fantasy. I really enjoyed the rest of the movie. A good buddy cop, gang-banger, other-worldly fugitive flick. I'm glad I didn't turn it off.

Man some of you are just impossible to please. I guess the only movie you'd be happy with is an all white male cast?
The "over the top racist white cops" is because it was a play on 90s post race riot Los Angeles. And in case you missed it, Will Smith played a white guy, which was awesome.
A bunch of the elves were Asian by the way.
And it's in LA, not rural Mississippi or Kansas of course there's Asians and Latinos...
