Am I the only person who found these movies incredibly underrated?

No. They launched Wes Anderson's, career and have a ton of fans and following.

Welcome to the party.

Royal Tenenbaums is his masterpiece. Suck it if you disagree.

That’s a great one, but Rushmore is my favorite.

Bottle Rocket got tremendous fanfare when it came out. It was nearly impossible to get a copy from the video store because it was always checked out. I think it is appropriately viewed as a film that showed a lot of potential from a young filmmaker.

somehow stumbled into Bottle Rocket at that old theater on Essen Lane .... don't recall if i knew anything about it, but was so enamored dragged my lady friend to it the next day. Needless to say I don't think she got it.

Still amazes me they licensed a Rolling Stones song ... was at a Royal Tenenbaums premier in NYC and Wes actually showed the Bottle Rocket short (in black and white) that helped get the film financed. Pretty cool.

I think moonrise kingdom is wonderful. A great camp movie and a great coming of age movie.

watched it yesterday
that movie washes a wave of nostalgia over me that is hard to describe.
my childhood wasn’t exactly like that (not an orphan), but everything else about the setting and scene is dead on. I was the scout with big glasses and big scouting skills who had trouble making friends

its a beautifully written, cast and shot movie that I think is an American classic

1. Moonrise Kingdom
2. Grand Budapest Hotel
3. Rushmore
4. Royal Tenembaums
5. Life Aquatic

The earnestness of Moonrise Kingdom puts it over the top. When David Foster Wallace advocated for a "New Sincerity" to replace postmodernism in art, MK is what he was talking about. Unfortunately, the term was co-opted and rendered meaningless in subsequent years.

It’s one of his most underrated tbh. I watch it every year around thanksgiving.

1a. Rushmore
1b. The Royal Tenenbaums
3. Fantastic Mr. Fox
4. Bottle Rocket
5. Life Aquatic
6. Darjeeling

The Rest...By the time his others came out I was getting older, and I just didn’t care about them the same way as I did his earlier ones. I still enjoyed them, but they’re my least favorite.
