You've been around long enough to know that just like people begged for The Hobbit after LOTR, people begged for The Silmarillion after The Hobbit. I remember being on here in every single thread that talked about adapting the 1st or 2nd age and saying it was a bad idea and shouldn't be done. But the majority of fans were calling for it. It's revisionist history for fans now to say that they didn't want it, because most did.

The Silmarillion is a history covering thousands and thousands of years. It could be done as a series, but not how they are attempting to cobble and stitch it together.

If they wanted to do that, they could have started with the creation story and Morgoth adding discord to the music, showing Feanor making the Silmarils, Morgoth stealing them, the Vow, that god foresaken vow that killed so many.

This shite that theyre doing here, I dunno how this was pitched and everybody in the room was like "Yeah, that sounds awesome, lets do that." It's ridiculous.

The people working on this series have less than 0 talent. This includes the actors and actresses.

This is the biggest waste of money in the history of entertainment.

I truly can't wait for the YT hate watching videos. This show is Troll 2 bad.

Just because fans called for it doesn't mean they were expecting or asking for a total mockery of Tolkien in that season one. That was a slap in the face to every LOTR fan

This show is absolutely awful but it’s still better than The Acolyte

I needed something to watch after I finished Black Sails. I decided to watch Rings of Power since season 2 is coming up and I had not watched the first season. I am a fan of the LOTR movies. I was not a big fan of the Hobbit movies just because they stretched out the book to cover 3 movies, that hurt it, but the movies were fine, just not great on the level of LOTR. I have read both the LOTR and Hobbit books but have not read any other source material. I am somewhat aware of Middle Earth lore, but not close to an expert on it.

All that said, I am 4 episodes into season 1 of Rings of Power and this show plain sucks. It's just bad. The writing stinks, the pacing is just all over the place, and it does nothing to suck me in and engage me. I'll keep watching it to see if it gets better but I doubt it. The visuals are amazing, but that can't carry a show. The story, dialogue, plot, pacing, etc, make the show.

The trailers I am seeing for season 2 look pretty good with some great battle scenes. I am going to power through season 1 for that reason.

Maybe the problem is I'm having a Black Sails hangover. That show was so freaking good.
