What's sad about it? I watch Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, and Blade Runner multiple times a year. They're highly rewatchable.

I can’t disagree more. Bladerunner is not highly rewatchable. A great film, but come on.

you are correct ... it is not 'highly rewatchable' ...

it is decidedly, extraordinarily & exceedingly rewatchable ...

well there's the whole replicant cells rebellion about to hit the fan so i'm guessing a sequel could be forthcoming.
that's what I was thinking. Thought it was actually gonna be in the last part of this one and plus they still have Wallace alive and well and he's the big baddy so you still have your main antagonist

Also did every replicant that showed up with the one eyed lady have the same memories as the girl? Is that why she said we all thought we were the one?

The reason I ask is this is what my friend who i went to the movie with said and I don't believe him. But who knows

Lots of symbolism...

Reflected from our own society...

Women vs. Men theme...he begins by taking out the old man (good job again Dave)
Women are in positions of authority, but still being controlled by men behind the scenes.

The illuminati themes, everywhere in this movie...child abuse/labor/big brother/etc. The left eye removed from the only character that "knows"

motivations of those inspired, vs. those saddled...

Tons of stuff

Olmos shows him the sheep...he's letting him know he's just livestock to go with the flow unless he changes course...whereas the horse symbolizes freedom

The question, is Deckard a replicant continues

It would take me weeks to do a full breakdown

It has Kubrick level layers...

The other movies are great as well but they are built in blocks (PF) or in overlapping tones (GF)

In Kubrick and Scott's blade runner, stories and "meta-stories" are told in every scene

i think your'e being harsh and i get it as a blade runner fanboy myself.

i'm not about to say it's better than the first but i understand why someone who maybe only saw blade runner for the first time relatively recently would think so

br2049 will not and can not have the same legacy as the original, just cant happen for many reasons

that said it's a wonderful movie and as far as sci fi sequels go it's as good as it gets and exceeded any reasonable expectations for what this was going to be.

i'll see it again while it's still in theaters

they also left the poor orphans in that sweatshop and never really explained who the hell those people were who harpooned the spinner

oh and sjws have officially gotten their talking points for the new BR

Just to clarify, I've seen Bladerunner half a dozen times over the last decade or more. 2049 is, imo, better. Just my opinion. And I love the original. It is a masterpiece. Aside from the acting. Which is, contrary to Ace's comments, not anywhere near the level the acting is in 2049. Some of it is comically bad and if it weren't for the overall monumental quality of the rest of the film, it would absolutely take the viewer out of it.

i mean it's one of those things, i'm not going to argue with someone over which was better. Both are amazing movies in their own right.

My wife enjoyed the movie more than I did, and I really enjoyed it.

Outstanding film. I am pushing anybody I can to go see it. I am okay with not getting all the answers to what was going on in the world. This was about K.

Was visually stunning, as everyone else has said.
Big fan of the original and I think I liked this one more.

Was awesome.

Gosling

Love, Love, Love that the twist was not what I expected (Gosling being the child).

Yeah, the dressing room scene is just awful. It's like they put Ace Ventura in there instead. Harrison clashed/still clashes with Ridley Scott on some things, and he had to have thought that scene would be cut. I can't imagine Harrison not doing some sort of take insisting on using a normal voice.

I pretty much watched both films back to back this weekend

Bladerunner in the morning and then went to see 2049 that night.

loved it

Great cinematography, loved the score.

They really did a good job getting me sucked into their universe.

Story was interesting, but I honestly think they could have trimmed 30 minutes and picked up the pacing a bit.

it was far too long for my tastes. If they just cut off one second of each ryan gosling bloodied face closeup, it could have easily shaved off 20 minutes of the movie.

The story was solid. They did a good job following the original's lead (at least director's cut) of using actions to demonstrate what was going on vs. dialog. The score was fantastic as was the cinematography. The score for the original was superior, but that is one of the best scores I know of.

the acting was fantastic too, except for Ford. Who pretty much just plays teh same character in the last 15-20 years.

They didn't give him much ... what's he supposed to do in the water-fight scene, gurgle?

Yeah I'm not gonna argue with Ace about it and at least it seems, in here, that no one is trying to give him a hard time for not liking it.

I just personally loved it and am also a huge fan of the original. But it's all relative and different strokes for different folks.
