The critics had a log up their arse on this one.

48% dispaity between the critics and audience

TOMMY BOY

Critics Consensus
Though it benefits from the comic charms of its two leads, Tommy Boy too often feels like a familiar sketch stretched thin.

Are you about to defend that Uncut Gems audience score? That would be a silly move.

I’m shocked that the Uncut Gems audience score was so low.

No not at all... it was fine.

Just happened to remember there being a big difference in the scores. So I decided to post it. That’s really it

I'll never understand how RT got so popular. IMDb is better in every way, especially ratings

Agreed. I switched to imdb when starting a new series or movie

IMDB is highly unreliable because with a lot of movies you just have people putting a 10 if they love it and 1 if they don't.

The overall ranking is almost always accurate according to how I like movies and TV shows. Rotten Tomatoes gives something like The Waterboy about 20%

Stupid fricking movie. I can never get through the first 10 minutes. How could so many people be wrong?

RT doesn't rank anything. It's 2020 and still a lot of you fail to understand how RT works

Tommy Boy is genius. Go to quote material for my college friends and me.

I get why people don’t like Uncut Gems. It’s dark and the main character is unredeemable. But, holy cow! What a ride. Sandler got snubbed big time. Academy should’ve nominated him.

It seems back then critics slammed every SNL cast members movies except for Wayne's World.

Tommy Boy is a classic.

The reviews on RT are some of the out-of-touch douchiest you'd ever see.
quote:

Dumber than Dumb and Dumber, Tommy Boy is a comedy that might be a hoot after several beers but is otherwise best avoided.

And speaking of Dumb and Dumber, that has some ridiculous reviews.
quote:

This virtually laughless movie makes rude junior high school pranks seem positively sophisticated.

quote:

An execrable catalogue of doody jokes, Dumb and Dumber is an abominable, abdominal comedy.

Geez, lighten up Francis.

I didn't realize that sticks and stones was so critically hated. Was it really that crazy that critics were scared to be seen liking it? I just glanced at some of the reviews. I didn't think it was that out there with trying to be outrageously offensive like the critics' reviews were trying to say.

Uncut Gems just wasn't enjoyable for me to watch. It was hectic and loud which made it physically uncomfortable to watch for me. They were going for an effect with it which is cool and I get it, but it also feels like they were trying too hard.
