I still find Coal Miner's Daughter to be one of the best biopics ever done. The quality of the acting performances as well as Sissy Spacek and Beverly D'Angelo singing in character and doing a great job of it makes it stand out. Tommy Lee Jones doing his thing before we knew it was his thing. Great movie I have seen many, many times. Didn't even like or appreciate Loretta Lynn before watching it. Makes a lot of music biopics look like afterschool specials IMO.

I loved Oliver stone's the doors.

Kilmer killed it as Morrison.

EASILY my favorite. It’s so damn good.
I didn’t know Control existed. I’m going to have to watch it.

I had no idea they made a biopic about Ian Curtis.

Control is a good watch.. Another movie about someone I'd never heard of is You're Going to Miss Me When I'm Gone. It's a documentary.:

Tom Petty Running Down a Dream

I Am Trying to Break Your Heart by Wilco is a pretty decent story about the record biz, and they are a legit innovative band.

The Last Waltz

The Rush documentary is pretty good. Beyond the Lighted Stage

The documentary where Journey picks up their new lead singer is pretty fun. Great story.

I've got the two CD soundtrack from it. in my car. The only other music that might be considered classical is the original Star Wars Trilogy soundtrack and a two disc John Williams greatest hits CD I found.

The Glenn Miller Story

Hard to beat a movie with Stewart and June Allyson.

The Benny Goodman Story (1956) is pretty good too. Steve Allen and Donnie Reed star in it. Both have lots of scenes with performances by some outstanding Jazz performers. Lionel Hampton & Gene Krupa are in both.

I've bought my dad multiple LPs of both Miller & Goodman... When we were kids, my dad played his trombone with them.
