This isn't true, sexuality was looked at differently by those guys.
Running misconception. They had very negative slang words fro both the butch and the bitch in their languages. The word for the bitch translates to "wide arse" and the word for the butch translates to "hairy arse."
quote:

he was PRETTY attached to Hephaestion and extremely upset when he died
Gilgamesh was attached to Enkidu and was really upset when he died. Still not a homo.

You have to understand that women were not thought of as any kind of companion in ancient Greek times. They were even more servile than modern muslim women, basically just brood mares, so being known for having mighty male companions was admirable and desirable.

This was all started by Oscar Wilde in the late 19th century, when he was on trial for indecency, and came to greater popularity in the 70's and 80's. Gay activists trying to assert that the most notable, ancient warriors were homos. Attila, Alexander, etc., but there is no real proof of this, and it certainly wasn't socially acceptable to be openly gay.

Found it....The Dark Prince.

It wasn't Gerard Baker but Rudolf Martin .

Vlad goes on a killing spree against the Ottomans who kidnapped his brother and had his father killed . He was pretty effective, but it took its toll. He was excommunicated by the Orthodox Church and his brother ends up working for the Turks and assassinates him. He is buried behind a wall but later when the Turks and locals go to retreive the body it is missing.

The legend goes that he was denied entrance to both heaven and hell, cursed to forever roam the earth....a vampire

You do know Commodus was an actual Roman emperor who rigged gladiator games, correct?

So he was the Roger Goofdell of ancient Rome?

Can I nominate the Pearl Harbor scene where FDR gets so charged up that his legs start working again like in Dr. Strangelove?

Eh, they try to frame it as if he's supporting himself with his arms and the braces around his legs, buts it's done rather poorly.

The Ottoman on Netflix chronicles the battle and downfall of Constantinople.

Excellent series and very well done and battle was more about the Christian Orthodox Church vs the Muslims although Rome did lend supplies and support.

Why not write about the battle between Umayyad Spain and the Kingdom of Asturias in the early days of the Spanish Reconquista (718-924)?

We know he was a Roman soldier prior to being enslaved into the games. Nothing he did outside of the Third Servile War was of any historical consequence, so who cares? He was killed in battle trying to "have at" the general of the other army, not afterwards with the "I'm Spartacus" scene, but as far as major events, it's reasonably accurate. Definitely no gay bath scenes, though.

or was he. His body was never found

Marcus Aurelius was an actual person
He sure was, but he didn't die the way the movie portrays by being smothered by Commodus. Not to mention there wouldn't have been a question of whether Commodus was going to be the next Emperor. He had been serving as Junior Emperor with his Marcus Aurelius since 177 (three years before the death of Marcus Aurelius)

The Ottoman somewhat downplayed the Muslim vs Christian angle during the Constantinople battle.Lots of mercinaries on both sides along with Muslims and Christians fighting on both sides.

Once again this was from the writers/producer of the series.I have no idea of the reality of the situation

It was never identified. Big difference. His battle plan was to launch an assault on Crassus and personally kill him. By all accounts, he was surrounded and killed while trying to do this.

That would be a shitty movie ending, though.

Not according to Appian who says the body of Spartacus was never found after being killed.
