If the fans still dig it and it makes a billion dollars like Transformers, do they continue?
There's no way Aquaman, Cyborg, and Wonder Woman can make a billion dollars, even with high praise. It's going to be even worse as a result. They may have to go back to the drawing board with this, simply keeping Batman and the Suicide Squad if it goes particularly sour.

It isn't odd that nerds who probably bought/found/won/were interested enough in seeing the film, who are also interested enough in tweeting about the film were "super pumped and so excited!!!!!" about it.
They want people who will champion the film to see it first, simple marketing. Not people who will critique it honestly, or who are not it's target audience. They aren't going to bring in a bunch of soccer moms or people who don't tweet.
Last night's showings were open to the public. Everyone that pre-bought those tickets through the IMAX deal was allowed in. No pre-screening of applicants.

Tons of youtubers were raving about it. I don't think I've ever seen a movie have this kind of mixed reactions.

Faraci death threats incoming:
They'll be ordering that Affleck-Bat movie sooner rather than later.

But the movie itself is terrible, poorly made, dumb, and shockingly dull. Doomsday is trash. Lex stinks. The worst modern comic book film.

Those expecting BvS to be DC's answer to Marvel's Avengers will find it more akin to Snyder's Watchmen instead.

Did not know that. Then it is strange.

And yet Marvel keeps making Thor and Ant-Man movies, even though they don't make a billion dollars.

definitely seems to be a disconnect between the audience and critics thus far

I am finding it a bit funny that the biggest thing people were complaining about 18 months ago (Affleck) is the best part of the film.
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of it at first and really hated the age difference between Superman and Batman, but then when they revealed that they were doing the Suicide Squad, had the Robins all pre-established, as well as a large portion of Batman's Rouge Gallery, then I was sold.
I've wanted Batman to go the way of the Bond franchise. Just randomly bring up villains and assume the audience is intelligent enough to not have a radical backstory or set-up for all of them. This is what Batman being in his 40s will provide, so I'm excited for that.

People that wanted to see it loved it.
Critics who had to see it didn't.
