I'm probably passing. Affleck as Batman and Gadot as Wonder Woman?

Certainly waiting for video - if that.

Liar

The spectacle alone should be worth it. Regardless of the tone/end product, Man of Steel was still fun to see on the big screen

This board is starting to suck with all the pessimism and negativity towards this movie. They want it to be terrible so they can gloat until the end of time.

Haters.

Am I missing something? Is there any way that this movie doesn't cross $400m?

The marketing has not done the movie any favors. I'm stoked for Affleck, even given my reaction to MoS and was hoping the trailers would pump me up, but everything looks so bad. Doomsday. Luthor. More muted colors. Blah.

I'll say this, I was more pumped for Man of Steel than I am for BvS. I thought MoS looked awesome.

I was blah on this movie the second Afflec was announced as Batman. He gets a lot of undeserved hate from the internet, but I'm sorry, I can't see him as Batman.

Movies generally have to far exceed their budget. Remember, theaters get a large percentage of opening weekend profits. To break even, ticket sales have to be far above "Total Budget."

Deadpool's success with it's fraction of the budget is about to make DC look real bad.

Marvel spent a decade crafting a universe. And they did it extremely well. Now they are even taking chances with lesser known properties and those are doing well.

DC is ttrying for a smash broad appeal hit by hiring Zack Snyder to direct a controversial Superman sequel that simultaneously reboots Batman after a very recently and very successful trilogy, introduces Wonder Woman, founds the justice league, eisenberg as Luthor, has Doomsday created out of Zods body by Luther, introduces possibly Darkseid, andhas BBatman and Superman fighting each other.

Their marketing campaign has been horrible and their network execs are fricking idiots.

For arguments sake, what would be the hype for this movie if Christian Bale was Batman?

Bigger? About the same?

It's Nolan that sold the TDK trilogy, not Bale imo.

If Nolan was directing this $1.5 billion easily.

They should have made a stand alone Batman movie that sets up his distrust for Supes and sets the new character apart from Nolan and Bale.

A stand alone wonder Woman movie that sets up her character.

Another stand alone Superman movie that establishes his actual character and role as a superhero . Also introduces Lex and explores his character.

Then they could've made the BvS concept.

Right now it's too much too fast I feel like.

I'm still going to see the movie, but i have no expectations.

I am super excited about Suicide Squad though.

I give them huge props for the amount of success they're having, but a lot of their films have been very mediocre, IMO. I just think they can do so much more. I feel like they play it safe with lot of their films, aside from the excellent Cap 2.

I'm excited for this one, but they just haven't done themselves any favors with its marketing

It's already made every studio look bad, including its own.

It's already the 9th most successful DC/Marvel film (going by budget vs revenue). If it finishes above $685 million in sales it will be THE most successful DC/Marvel film of all time.

Put this into Marvel Terms:

The Incredible Hulk 2 (moderately successful, mediocre reaction film), simultaneously reboots Spider-Man, introduces Captain America and the Avengers. Miles Teller as Loki, has Ultron created out of failed Destroyer project by Loki using Magic, possibly Thanos and has Spider-Man and Hulk fighting each other.

It just looks messy in practice.

I 100% agree with all of this. And I certainly have my problems with some of their movies, but that doesn't change the fact that they took their time to build and weave a universe together and it's been done damn near perfectly.

Phenomenal movie. Easily the best imho so far. And it's way I'm so excited for Civil War. Same directors and story tellers.

I just rewatched Winter soldier and realized that Captain America, Black Widow, Winter soldier, the chick from how I met your mother, and Nick Fury were each individually responsible for more deaths than anyone in the entire Ultron movie including Ultron himself combined.

I think Im going to love the movie, but I am about 80% sure its going to fail. It will bring in a profit, but the buzz is so bad going into this release, I don't think it will recover. With reports coming in about WB being worried, it just adds on to the pile of bad buzz this thing has garnered. From the trailers, the casting, it just never ends. Its sad really.
