‘Barbie’ Largely Praised For Feminist Themes—But Draws Anger From The Anti-Woke

My producers dragged me to see ‘Barbie’ and it was one of the most woke movies I have ever seen. My full review of this flaming garbage heap of a film will be out on my YouTube channel tomorrow at 10am ET.

My latest: Conservatives hate Barbie bc they hate women so they hate things women like! Simple! I quoted @NicoleFroio’s excellent piece on the femme intellectual canon in this post btw.

I read through some of the critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes when they first started coming in, and almost all of the negative reviews were just incel soy boys complaining about how woke it is and complaining about it's feminist agenda.

It's a movie directed by Greta Gerwig. What did they expect?

The same quality of effort she gave Little Women?

If that's really what this movie is all about, it will be interesting to see if it has any legs.

half of the opening weekend tickets were probably brought by the studios using their marketing budget to make people think there was a buzz about the movie.

Ah yes, let’s compare one of the greatest pieces of literature from the 19th century made in to a film against a movie about plastic dolls.

I mean...they're the ones acting like this movie is super important female empowerment something-or-other. We're not the ones putting it on a pedestal.

My wife and kids saw it yesterday. They got dressed up and everything. They said it blew donkeys.

Interesting side note. My wife tried to get her friend a ticket last minute and they said it was sold out. Got in theater and sage said it was a little over half full.

David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin decided to make a movie about a social media website and turned it into one of the best and most important pieces of film produced in the last 50 years.

It's funny how people like you refuse to acknowledge how obvious Hollywood is about these themes. It's become ridiculous and over the top. A few movies with it, sure, that's not uninteresting, but almost every movie regardless of genre seems to have this theme.

My question is how are people so stupid as to not ask a single question about the movie before buying a ticket?

Just got back. It was slow and way too long, but as always with Nolan, it is a well crafted and expertly produced film. The acting is superb and the FX in lieu of CGI is impressive. It's a wonderful film that I'll likely never watch again.

Barbie bots were everywhere, though, all of them wearing pink, some of them posing for pics in front of the Barbie poster. It will easily surpass $1 bil. and I weep for humanity - as Oppenheimer did.

It worked. The theater in Lafayette was wall to wall pink-clad Barbots at 1:45 pm. I saw one presumed Instaho posing for pics in front of the poster. Bubble gum hair was everywhere. I experienced sincere desolation.

Teenage daughter just came back and said it was horrible. Entire movie was hating on men and just flat boring.
