The Last Jedi is one of the worst movies ever, but the visuals when Dr. Ellie Satler went to hyperspace through the mothership were top notch.
ILM should never have been tainted by those horrible films. They were put in a losing situation

Dark Superman v. Clark Kent in the abysmal Superman III is the single best example I can think of for this phenomenon. Such a great scene in such a bad movie.

Opening of “Austin Powers: Goldmember” with Tom Cruise and Danny DeVito.
Opening sequence of “Indy Temple of Doom”
Nothing in either film topped their beginning

This freaking awesome. Also my favorite Tom Cruise role.

Martial Arts cinema probably has the best answers to this questions
Protector - or any Tony Jaa movie
LINK
Drunken Master 2 - or any Jackie Chan movie
LINK
Way of the Dragon - Lee v Norris or any Bruce Lee movie
LINK
For there just go down the rabbit hole….
These movies were designed around fight scenes. Action porn. The plot is irrelevant, it’s all about the action.

MI2 had some great action scenes

You can probably revisit a lot of John Woo's American work, now that you bring him up
In the same vein, Michael Bay has entered the chat

Wait, what?
You talking about the abomination that is the song and dance routine from annoying-as-frick Kate Capshaw? Because that is far and away the worst part of that movie.
Also, that movie is awesome and doesn’t even apply here anyway.

That run from Hard Target to MI2 had some bangers

I consider the "opening" of that movie everything up to the window crash jump. So it'd include the negotiation, poison drink, antidote, flaming skewer to the chest, shootout, running behind the rolling gong during balloon drop. The song and dance was whatever but the action after that was solid

Yeah I was thinking specifically at Hard Target. Lots of cool shite in a movie that I love, but is mediocre (and derivative of his HK work)

If you wanna include TV shows, Better Call Saul I think season 2. Mike tells his daughter in law the truth about what happened to his son (her husband).
"I broke my boy"

Dr Evil & Mini Me rapping “A Hard Knock Life” in prison was hilarious.

Anytime I think of a bad movie that had a great scene I always think of this one
The Way of The Gun (2000) with Ryan Philippi.
He says "You better shut that kunts mouth, before I come over there and frick start her head"

There were several good scenes in The Way of The Gun. The car chase was good. The James Caan scenes. The end shootout.

IMHO, To Live And Die In LA is a deconstruction of the “cowboy cop” genre, which is why the movie as a whole isn’t exciting as it should be.
A lot of the shite Chance does works out for a cowboy cop in most movies but not this one.
It still doesn’t diminish the highway chase nor the holdup of the courier that set it off.
The movie also gets bonus points for Jane Leeves (Daphne from Frazier) as the bi gal pal of the main counterfeiter and his girlfriend.
