They are ignorant. 2 weeks in theaters and it’s a little short of earning $1 billion. That is the definition of success.

So what is the general consensus of the board? Good, meh, or bad?

I saw it Friday night and even though I fell asleep for a bit, I didn't hate it like I thought I would. My biggest complaint other than the length (way too much "hey look how good our CGI is!) was that it was essentially the same movie as the first except in water instead of trees. I mean I guess in part 3 they are going to bring the same bad guy back? There was no reason not to kill him off.

My wife absolutely hated it. I think this is the first time I didn't hate a movie and she did. Normally it's the other way around. I only watched the first one once and I can't see myself ever wanting to see this one again. Just a weak, repeated story.

I really could have used run time to be shorter as well because my a pipe busted in my house while I was gone

I thought it was good, not great. It's a movie to be seen on the big screen. I doubt I'll ever see it at home.

Damn. That’s terrible about your pipes. People in my area also had the same thing happened to them. Fortunately, I did not.

I personally really enjoyed the movie, however, I would have cut out some of the “water training“ that took up quite a bit of the movie and further explained other things which were not explained in detail.

Ironically, there is quite a lot of conversation here and in Europe especially about the film leaning very heavily on the white savior tropes.

Jesus, again with this shite?

You do understand that the studio doesn’t keep all the box office receipts?

Saw it tonight in Dolby. Loved it. Great sequel and the first Avatar is one of my all time favorites.

The ending was actually pretty sad with the son being sent back

Yea there was no way that was ever going to happen. It didn't matter if it was good or crap, it was always going to kill it at the box office.

Anyone who thought this was going to bomb had literally no knowledge of the movie or box office or were just motivated by other factors

Agreed 100%. Those people didn’t like the film and jumped on a bandwagon with people singing a song they liked.

For those who already watched, does this require a rewatch of the original?

I saw it when it came out in theaters but probably haven't seen it since then.
