This is a quality watch so far. They are weaving the story in out at very good pace. Very good tie in with the films so far. It's quality television. I couldn't give a shite what some of you pussies think. For all you bitches complaining about this and that, blactresses, casting, etc. log off or keep your vaginas welling up, I'm in.

The 3 past figures are contrasted with the 3 in the sorta present day.

Cate is the most annoying so far, but I’m hoping she gets some sort of arc.
Digging the rest of the cast. Wyatt & Kurt are awesome. They even sound so much alike.

I’m still trying to figure out how many people are named Randa & how the family tree even looks.

The past three I enjoyed in the first episode and I did not expect to see Ders in this series. The japan storyline has some painfully bad scenes but I’m intrigued. I’m in solely for the Russells and monsters.

I’m surprised you actually watched the show instead of just posting nerdrotic’s take…

That being said, you and I both have a love for Godzilla and kaiju movies. I’m excited for this series. I’ll save my bashing of you for your impending Nerdrotic link post

Gary doesn't even post any Kaiju stuff, not to my recollection. I'd guess I know more about this genre than he does.

There ARE a handful of YT channels which do focus on monsters and such, though I've been trying to avoid them until I've watched the show. Lots of 'saved' content for me to watch later, for sure.

As for the reviews of stuff I've just seen, I can recommend Dangerville and DMan1954.

I signed up for Apple TV over a year ago, just to watch this series. If the show sucks, I'll cancel, no worries. But so far, I'm digging it.

Not sure what is meant by this.

If you're referring to Cate related scenes, yes. Sub-standard. Painfully bad? I'd not go that far. 'Tim' was cringeworthy at the station. That whole series of events could have been done much neater and interesting. Felt rushed.

So far, I'd say it's delivering on both counts.

And unlike other Apple TV shows, like Silo, Invasion & Foundation, this one isn't dragging with excessive exposition. It's a nice mix of action, intrigue, and yes, monsters. Not so much Titans, yet, but they'll show up soon enough.

Yes that’s what I meant. None of them had much charisma at all.

I agree with the rest. Godzilla showing up would be cake. Plus minus one in two weeks.

Never heard the term DERS before, so I guess that's a niche thing? Not a psychologist.

8 more eps. We know Gojira makes the scene, and not just in flashbacks. It is 'monsters', after all, and not just Monarch: Legacy of Godzilla.

(Need to start looking for a good place to watch -1.)

It’s not really his fault, but I don’t think I will ever be able to see him as anything other than Anders.

I’m curious what role (if any) John Goodman will play as the series goes on. With all the timeline hopping you’d think we would see a good bit more of him outside of the Skull Island flashback at the beginning right?

So far I’m digging the show. I don’t really get the criticism about it being human-centric. It’s a spin-off series, not a full blown kaiju movie. And so far I feel like we’ve seen plenty of monsters anyway. I think it’s kind of cool seeing all the ways that these monster events have changed everyday life for normal people. I was reading an interview with the creators and they likened it to making a show about “9/12” rather than 9/11.. I thought that was a very good analogy.

Casting Kurt and Wyatt Russell was a great idea. I’ve seen Wyatt Russell on screen before but didn’t realize who he was until seeing this and going “man, they nailed that casting.” It makes a lot of sense now.

Ooooh, OK. Now I'm up to speed.

I think.

Anders Holmvik = Anders Holm.

Having never seen Workaholics, I had no damn CLUE what reference was being attempted.

Got damn, stop speaking in code.

I watched both episodes, but with all the time jumping and what not, I have no idea who is who and who is supposed to be who.

The time jumps are a bit messy. But as we see how some members in the past don't make it into the future, that should start to clear things up as we move forward.

Unfortunately, there are continuity issues from the 4 movies and the timeline as we're being shown. Maybe we'll get some clarifications or explanation, but either way, it's still a solid show.

I certainly enjoyed it, but I pretty much enjoy all things Godzilla... ever since I had chicken pox as a kid and was left home all day when there was a Godzilla/King Kong "marathon" on what was then WTBS Channel 27 (or maybe 17)?.
Got me hooked.

I watched both episodes tonight. I'm enjoying it. It's a slow-burn relative to other Kaiju movies, but it has a steady unfolding of the human storylines/mysteries in between monster scenes to keep you interested, and there are still tons of questions that remain to be answered.

how are the CG effects? i saw the video of the spider queen vs crab with john goodman running around the legs and it was pretty horrible looking.

i am hoping that was a one off.

In the 3rd episode, the scene with a plane landing was a little off, but the monsters seem pretty good. I think they’re providing a nice mix of monsters and humans.

Episode three dropped and it was serviceable but not great. Couple of callbacks to the original 2014 movie, but they left a lot of questions just hanging there. That’s the problem with doing these flashback episodes and continuity scenes. As Dr Who puts it, there are “fixed moments in time“ that need to be adhered to, and not altered. Like moments from the movies that are on the big screen, and everybody can see what took place and why. It’s fine to give a different point of view of the same event, so it may look a little different, but the events themselves can’t be altered.

Speaking of... the Dr. Who 3 episode thingy should start in the next couple nights.

Back to the topic... 3rd episode was a letdown. Wasn't good, wasn't horrible... just middling. They need to pick it up to keep people interested.
