One of those women in episode 3 specifically asked him about that. I think he said it was just good genetics.

A conversation in episode 4 could have something to do with it but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

Ep. 5 is out.

They're trying too hard, and it shows. The writing is trash.

I hope they've got a good wrap up of the overall plot to bring it home, because this series is losing me.

More talk of Shaw's 'good genes', and a reference to 'a thing that happened', but just more vagueness.

I like some of it but other parts are just ridiculous. Like when Kentaro poked those holes in that piece of paper and it lit up the map?

Like wtf?

I like the graphics enough, just wish we could see more monster battles

After talking mad shite about Chris Gore in the OP? It shows integrity that you can admit this now.

Huh? I simply said I disagreed with him. And at the time, he'd seen the first 5 eps. I had seen just 1. And now that I've seen half the series, I get it.
I don't mind the human centric stuff, as long as it's done well. This isn't. But credit Chris Gore for not going into spoilers.

Kate in particular. She's gone from being an insufferable, self-centered child, almost getting a redemption arc, right back to being an even WORSE garbage human. I get it, writers being who they are, and the G-Day events occurring in San Franciso, they really did go out of their way to make Kate a Megan Rapino level count. And enough with her PTSD already! Good grief, she's not the only one who suffered or lost things! The show should stop acting like she's so damn important. It's super cringe.

Random thought: They all mention "G-day" and San Francisco, as if everything that happened was isolated to one day and one city. Didn't Honolulu and Las Vegas get wrecked by Titans as well? Hell, Godzilla wiped out hundreds, if not thousands by simply making landfall in Hawaii. And That MUTO walked straight through Las Vegas from one side to the next. But all we hear about is the day they fought in San Francisco.

Simplest explanation for G-Day is that it's easy shorthand for the audience to follow the course of events, plus Kate and her family were in SF at the time. Same with the Russell's, who lost their youngest son as a result of G-Day.

Would be nice if one of them would make a late series cameo, but I've heard nothing on that happening.

Well we are seeing all of this through the lens of a main character who lives in San Francisco.

That being said, I don’t think it’s all that surprising regardless. San Francisco is a larger city than Las Vegas or Honolulu, and I think we tend to simplify major events. It’s not a perfect comparison, but I think it’s kind of like the way we associate 9/11 with the Twin Towers rather than the Pentagon.

Also I would think that by the time shite hit the fan in San Francisco, the entire world would have been watching.

The bigger question to me is where this series falls relative to the other “Monsterverse” films. Because there was a hell of a lot more destruction in those movies. But maybe I’m missing something about the timeline.

I like Anna Sawai. She’s hot. Should have made her a badass for this show instead of the whiny bitch they wrote her arse. Her scenes are dreadful.

Episode six is out. Much improved, but the dead albatross for this series continues to be the three younger characters.

Kate & May in particular. The worst part is that they could’ve used their flaws early on to create a more likable arc, but they just keep falling back down. Whiny, insufferable, and pointless.

Sorry guys I wanted to like this but I just lost interest at Episode 2. Besides Kurt Russel, zero likeable characters

Totally understandable. Especially with minus one out, dominating the theaters, it’s tough to jump back and forth with this dodgy series. But apparently things start to wrap up quite nicely in the last few episodes. Don’t know if it will redeem itself fully, but it’s looking like a better finish.

This weeks episode redeemed the series somewhat for me, after the garbage episode from the week before.

We finally got some monsters again, and I'm interested to see where it goes from here.

Appreciate the honesty. I've always been a big G fan, and was contemplating picking up AppleTV to watch this. Prime's offering 3 months free.

I'd rather not watch more of the cringy human interaction of the movies, and it sounds like that's what this is.

The whole show revolves around them finding their Dad. I don’t care if they find him. They seem to care too much about finding the POS. It was actually funny that when they finally do find him he runs away from them.

And when he drives off in a desert all of a sudden all tracks that his vehicle left magically disappeared. Me and my son will continue to watch because hopefully the payoff will come.
