More CW level cringe nonsense with the Randa kids, but hell, there's an Expanse reunion going on which I'm for. So there's that.

Yes. It’s annoying.
Also, Even though I know what they are pushing the lesbian hanging on May looks predatory. My prediction she would be a lesbian was correct, but it looks like she will push her brother out of my brother & sister Eiffel Tower on May prediction.

Until this post I only had recognized Naomi, but In the earlier episode I recognized that female scientist who got away in Alaska (in latest episode) but couldn’t place her until now. I liked her in the Expanse (season 4).
With the series I find it more enjoyable when I have at least 2 episodes to watch as they waste a lot of time on wokeness, drama, and at times staying in flashbacks too long instead of moving plot along.

Cate sucks. Truly wretched character. May is boring as frick and a useless plot line.

It's stunning how anyone at Apple thought they NEEDED a goofy, contrived triangle with the modern characters to 'balance' the triangle dynamics of the young Shaw, Randa and Doc Keiko.
And FFS, why are they doing Kentaro wrong? They keep changing his entire personality to fit whatever situation the writer of the day chooses. It's needlessly inconsistent.
Shaw's motivations, despite what he says, are still in the gray area.
But credit for advancing the origins of APEX, at least. Still doesn't make May any less annoying.

Having poor Ken’s lost sister cuck him is some Twilight fan fic level shite. I don’t go into the blue haired criticism nonsense, but I have an inkling of the dumbass who wrote this plot line looks like a ridiculous lunatic.

The kids are whiny, bitchy and tiresome. The "mystery" of Mae was terribly anti-climatic. It appears they're setting up Russell's character as the usual modern day old white guy baddie and the rest of the cast - minus one white nerd who is likely gay - is the atypical Apple woke-roll.
I like the concept. I enjoy the small portions of the show that flash back with far superior actors. I enjoy the occasional CG monster. But I can see where this thing is going and that's a shame.

Not a fan of skinny Godzilla in this series. I hope there's some explanation for this, but Legendary as a whole has already fricked up the size ratio of Godzilla in the movies, so why even try at this point?
The series isn't a total disaster, but is suffering from self inflicted setbacks.
I like the theory that every director will get a chance to have Godzilla appear in one episode, so there's hope for a solid ending.
** not going to bump this thread, but latest episode is out. A bit too much exposition, but there are a couple of decent reveals. May continues to be insufferable. Really not a fan of how a former Soviet satellite nation has a completely abandoned nuclear power plant that has zero security. Frick off, show!
Also, if you were going to sneak into a super secret abandoned nuclear power plant, aren’t you going to keep some look out just in case? I swear to God, the writers are near Disney level bad .

Man this show is frustrating to follow on a week to week basis. wish i would have waited until they were all out. this week's episode is such a let down. feels like they forced bits in order to fulfil an episode count or something. i really enjoy the story that is being presented but damn!... it's too slow and uneventful for too many episodes. this one being one of the most boring.

Ep. 9
More timeline & retconning issues, but there is an interesting reveal in the last scene .

Saw that coming, but certainly welcome it.

Show finally became interesting again and quite a few things are explained.

Same. Seemed obvious from the start of ep 9.
However, the finale next week better be amazing otherwise it's an overall let down of what could have been a great show. Too many time fillers that overshadow the entire show. The last scene with Kentaro and his dad pissed me off. Opportunity for his dad to explain some shite and all they turn it into is an emotional cryfest.

As much as I hate May and Cate, Kentaro has been done wrong. Oh, and May was soooo concerned about what happened to Cate, she HAD to find her, it's clear where those 2 are headed.
*They've turned the Hollow Earth into a cross between The Upside down & the Quantum realm. And we saw how that turned out in the most recent Antman movie. Utter trash.

Not D+ level bad, as there were moments… but this should have been so much better.

What a bust, show sucked
Hollow Earth is essentially the Quantum Realm
Did I miss something? Doesn’t this create massive time plot holes for Kong v Godzilla movie?

Noticed the progression of the hollow Earth.
Kong-Skull Island: just a 'theory'.
KOTM: We find that it's real, but basically a subterranean means of getting from A-B. And ancient, advanced humans lived there to, for a time. Apparently.
GvK: It's a vast expansive world where magical creatures and Titans live & flourish.
Legacy of Monsters: It's the Quantum Upside Down where laws of physics don't always apply because ... *checks notes* gravity and weird magnetic shifts. And something about Gamma Ray bursts. Yeah, that too.

Some final thoughts on this show.
In my opinion, it slightly underperformed. Not a total wash, as there were some really clever and well written moments. But there were also Titan sized moments of cringe, mostly with the Randa kids and May. Just awful.
The flashbacks of Bill, Keiko and Lee landed so much better. Not only more talented, older actors, but better written as well.
Despite cries of 'not enough monsters', I thought they hit the mark well enough. But again, the less interesting story of the modern-day trio weighed it all down. Decent CGI too. But why did they make Godzilla so thin? At least offer an explanation.
Kurt and Wyatt Russel were really fun to watch. Done so well. I suspect we'll get more of the same for season 2. And yes, I fully expect a season 2.
I just hope they take into consideration the well meaning critique and criticisms of fans to heart, and tone down 'The Message' aspect of the series, but Apple is going to Apple, unfortunately.

I agree with all of this.
It wasn't terrible but when you have Godzilla Minus One in your head it just leaves you feeling let down.
You can't help but wonder what the G-1 team could do with the budget the big streaming services throw around.

I just started this series, and have watched about 3 episodes. I didn’t realize they were all in the same world as the Godzilla & Kong movies so I rewatched those last week before getting into the series. The only movie I had seen before was skull island, which was a lot of fun. The first movie Godzilla was also great. However, The last two movies preceding the series were pretty terrible, and a real chore to get through.
I’m really enjoying the series so far. I’d say it has more in common with the first two monsterverse movies I really enjoyed rather than the final two. They’re leaning more on the history/character element than just nonstop cgi monster action. Using the monsters just enough to keep it fun, but not so much that I just check out.
All that said, I cannot fricking stand May. Shes the worst.
