I’m pretty sure the second round of prison is the end of the line. Every prisoner there knows they aren’t getting out. Probably involves some mundane tasks or something dangerous where you wouldn’t need a workforce motivated by their future release. The first prison is like a penal colony outside of Moscow and the second prison is a Siberian gulag with no escape.

I started a rewatch because this show is so good. In episode 3 the sergeant said it would be a 10 minute walk from Andor’s home to his pinpointed location, and it was right at 10 minutes of screen time. Just another small detail the show gets right to make the characters and situation feel real.

I am appreciating Syril a lot more this time through. To go from the two epic speeches in episode 10, to Syril’s cringeworthy motivational speech to the troops was funny. He truly means well, but he is being chewed up and spit out by the empire. He is so idealistic that it will take awhile, but I hope he eventually sees the empire for what it is.

I’m with you on this. I thought it was a minor plot hole in a show that, otherwise, has very few.

It was explained as if due to the new sentencing rules, nobody is getting out now. So yeah.. it would have been a major issue no matter where they sent him.
First level prison, you serve your time. You are relatively comfortable, well-fed, and are constructing some fairly complex machinery.

Second level prison; on your release, your case is reviewed and you are found to have made some ideological crime. You are shipped off to the next place, with others in the same situation (but from a bunch of different prisons), and it's more of a hard labor thing (mining, etc). If you survive that, which is unlikely, you then get executed.

First tier, you have some hope and are productive. Second tier they work you to death, kill you off once you stop moving.

They might have shipped some guys to other first-tier prisons in small numbers, playing on the "your sentence has been extended because you stole X while you were incarcerated", and tried to keep the more complex work moving.
They made a logistical mistake by not shipping someone completely away from a productive site, and word got out that it was all bullshite.

Didn't read through the thread so sorry if this has been discussed. Luthen's monologue at the end of ep 10 was the best 1.5 minutes of Star Wars I've ever seen.

It was touched on briefly, I believe someone posted a screenshot of the monologue. And yes, it was high quality stuff

ETA nitpick, but listened to the speech again and it's actually "I made my mind a sunless space".

I caught up yesterday and I am halfway depressed that there are only 2 more episodes. This may be the best sci fi series in a very long time.

I think the whole "prisoner mistake" thing can just be explained away with what Andor has said multiple times in this series, the Empire is fat and lazy, and they don't care. So mistakes are made.

Good thing it's already been renewed for another 12 episodes for season 2

I suppose, but it's the same issue I had with Michael Scott on occasion. I know he's supposed to be dumb, but occasionally I'm "come on" (him driving a car into a lake because the GPS said there was a road there even though it was clear as day in front of him he was driving into a boat ramp).

I guess I have a hard time believing the Empire is THAT fat and lazy about things, but maybe it's as simple as that.

It was interesting to see that the Empire uses corporate security for easier to manage worlds. In the end, they are trying to manage a massive area with random people who they can hire, shite is going to get fricked up.

Like I said, watching it through again with my wife, we did the first prison episode last night, and I had forgotten how adamant Luthen was about finding Andor. I guess you could conclude that he definitely wants him taken out because he feels he told him too much, but Luthen isn't 100% honest with anyone he works with and part of me feels he just wants him found because he knows Cassian is special and would be a vital tool for the rebellion and he's using everyone else to locate him.

When Cassian is first being put on the floor, the guards are saying they are short-handed. They severely underestimate how much they will actually need to maintain order.

Ep.11 is up. Easily, the most creature/alien life-form appearances so far.

I love this show. Just phenomenal acting & drama. I hate that next week is the finale and we'll have to wait a year or so for the next season. And yet, at the same time, having to wait a whole week for the finale will feel like an eternity.

I do wonder how many of the storylines will wrap up next week and which ones will resolve in Season 2:

-Cassian's sister search and/or reveal, a storyline that seems to have been dropped since the early episodes.
-Mothma's daughter's potential arranged marriage into the space-mafia to fund, thus conceal, her exposed bank account
-Syril's crush on ISB Dedra reciprocated or is it slammed shut?
-Syril's pursuit of Andor realized?

Just a great show. I like the shot at the end of him at the beach staring out at the sun. It reminded me of the end of Rogue One when he and Jyn were on the beach, except they were looking at the Death Star blast headed their way

So, what was the reason for Luthen going back to Saw? Was it that he was feeling guilty and wanted someone else to share in his decision to sacrifice Kreegr and his men? It seemed Luthen had nothing to gain by revealing that Kreegr is doomed. I feel like I must've missed something.

Also, that short space fight was awesome.

I think Luthen wanted to make sure Saw did not change his mind, which he did, so to prevent the Empire from knowing how organized the rebellion is.

I would also not be surprised to see everyone end up back on the planet Ferrix for his mother's funeral. I could see the ISB, Syril, Luthan with Saw coming in to save Andor.

Wow, this show...

I feel so bad for B the droid

Even going back to the OT, I wanted C3PO and R2D2 to make it out alive, but I never felt bad for either one.

Exactly!! Why do I have feelings for a droid that probably has about 15 minutes total screen time ? I’m gonna go with stellar writing and directing.
