God damn I guess I need to start this series over. Never could get past the first 2 episodes because of the pacing
Then it won’t be for you. That’s kind of the show although it certainly does get increasingly intense.
It’s just a very adult, well done, interesting and dramatic show that is unlike anything Star Wars. Great acting, great characters, and just well done in every aspect.

They had to be building stuff for the death star right? Why else would they want all the prisioners dead?
Posted on 11/13/22 at 3:54 pm to VL Lsutiger
I thought they wanted the prisoners dead because they accidentally released him back into the wrong cell block, proving that they don’t actually release them at the end of their terms.
But yeah it still could be for the Death Star in some way.

quote:They didn't "want" the prisoners dead, they are running Gulags. Slave labor, for manufacturing. Once you're incarcerated, you're a slave for life... because you now serve a purpose for the Empire. Before that, you were just a number.
Why else would they want all the prisioners dead?
The Galaxy has many billions of life forms, probably trillions. The beaucracy has little concern for the individual.

The only thing I don't get is how do they expect to move a prisoner to a different floor instead of releasing him and it not get out causing an issue? Like, how is that a plan in the first place?

I dont think it was the plan but a mistake made due to the fact that the empire doesnt care enough about their subjects. they are all expendable and replaceable.
it was pretty much explained by exposition from andor.they didnt even care to listen 'nobodys listening' 'they dont care' etc.
they thought they had enough control that even if there was a mutiny it would be handled easily and the slaves could simply be replaced.

Yep, Andor literally says “they made a mistake”

And rather than acknowledging that a mistake was made, they killed everyone with knowledge. That’s quite the evil bureaucracy, 1984 type stuff. They were unaware of the sign language between levels.

This show is so boring…a nice cure for insomnia. Good for the folks actually enjoying it though

Hey guys, I found him.
So I've watched all of them so far but watching through it again with my wife, promised not to watch the next episode until we're caught up. We just watched the heist and she was hiding her eyes under the covers for half of it. I knew what would happen and it was still pretty tense.

This is the only part that I'm trying to figure out, because what scenario where they move a prisoner from one floor to another when he thought he was supposed be released does he not go "what the hell", unless there is supposed to be memory alteration, because there is no way that guy isn't going to tell everyone what just happened?
ETA Because I imagine this had been going on for a while, unless it was part of P.O.R.D.

I mentioned that earlier and why for me it is so good. All the new Star Wars brings me back to the when I was a kid. It makes you reminisce growing up as a fan. But this is like aged Star Wars that brings your adult attention into it as my children for the first time have no real interest because the in depth plot and story arc you have to follow and understand.

They made it sound like he was supposed to go to another prison and in the process ended up back in intake.
Posted on 11/14/22 at 7:47 am to Dizz
But he would still tell the inmates of that prison that he was supposed to be released.
Posted on 11/14/22 at 8:55 am to sicboy
I agree but a guy coming from some other prison telling a story is much less believable.
Posted on 11/14/22 at 8:59 am to Dizz
I'm thinking the mistake was a messed up memory wipe or he was actually supposed to be executed and accidentally placed back in the prison.

I’m with you on this. I thought it was a minor plot hole in a show that, otherwise, has very few.
It was explained as if due to the new sentencing rules, nobody is getting out now. So yeah.. it would have been a major issue no matter where they sent him.
That being said, it’s possible that it’s not a plot hole at all. Could be that the Empire, in their arrogance, just failed to think through the consequences of word getting out that nobody was going to be released.. and then panicked when the prisoners got uppity. In that case it doesn’t really matter what prison/floor he went to.

They never explain the "mistake" in detail, so I'm thinking it's one of the two I already mentioned. I know they are arrogant, but they can't be THAT arrogant that these prisoners would roll over and take it like that. I think he was in line for execution and someone screwed up and reassigned him to a new floor.

its just a simple bureaucratic type error due to the new empire crackdowns, not some plot hole. it doesn't need to be explained in detail its just not that complex.
