I believe she commented on it one episode

She's from Montana but lived in the UK for several years so her accent goes in and out

Yeah. I remember that. I kind of like her as a character. But her accent is very off putting to me.

Episode 7:

Probably the best episode of the season. I probably would have tapped after the close encounter with the bear like Rose had. I thought she would but sucked it up. Rose also answered some questions we've been tossing around about snares as she got a rabbit. I think Rose is still likely to tap next. Her shelter is crap and she's getting the homesick blues.

Rebecca was stupid going for a swim. That's the only was I can describe it. She was alone in extremely cold water for 35 minutes and damn near got so tangled up that she was in a life threatening situation.

Biko's attitude is going to take him far. He has a lot of extra fat to sustain him If he gets a significant food cash he will be tough to beat.

Clay is the favorite. He has food and is extremely comfortable in this element.

I don't see this show lasting much past 60 days.

Isn't it Theresa?

But yes, so stupid!

Clay and maybe Biko, if he can catch some fish or kill something, are best positioned to win.

I think Rose may not go next. Even though she's a bit homesick, she definitely rallied after the bear encounter. Just because she showed some emotion doesn't mean she's done. Look at Ky from S7. She dealt with her emotions and then moved on and stayed a long time. If Rose starts getting some bunnies, she may be ok.

Watching them starve this season hasn't been good. I hope that is starting to change.

Now that we know you CAN build a dock/pier type structure-let's discuss more fishing solutions.

- I would build multiple along the beaches to increase my fishing spots. I would also build qt least 1 or 2 more bracing sets to keep them from being so wobbly.

- Is there some sort of primitive fish apparatus you'd build to "guide" fish towards your basket traps in the shallows? I keep having this idea of a collection of long logs that form a triangle-esque shape to guide fish into the shallows where I would be able to wade out to check the traps as safely as possible.

Also, why don't any of these people have a pair of insulated high chest bibs?!?!? That's standard baw duck hunter standing in marsh waters. Wouldn't the same apply for knowing you're at a cold arse lake in BC?

Didn't assume History hadn't discussed with the government. Believe they likely did and got allowances to break the law but their 'poetic license' is disgusting. History's statements about "regulation" allowances are outright lies about patently ILLEGAL {gill nets, etc.} practices. Possibly stating their exceptions from the law by the government as "regulations" is also be a lie - one that a History channel lawyer might salivate over. If their on air statements had "Provincial Government allowances for History Channel Contestants" or the like I could look at in a different light.

That History won't inform their paying audience nor respond on the matter is my main issue. My BC Government representatives, local papers, tourism groups, Guide and Outfitter Association and Wildlife Federation associations also will not respond. Wonder why?

Doubtful. Especially with our sparkle socks racist blackface moron Prime Minister. And it was the provincial government involved here.

Would be happy to see government coming the other way. In western Canada all but the granola crunching green freaks have been talking about joining the US or forming their own confederation for a long time. 55% overall tax rate for 'working' Canadians.

It is so bad. I know two people who would move to places and all of a sudden have their accents. They were both batshite crazy.

One of my cousins moved from Arabi to Lockport many years ago and within 6 months he was talking just like the locals there. His accent went from what was basically a 9th Ward Yat to La. 1 Bayou English.

Do they ever explain how they keep their camera batteries charged?

Yes. They are given an insane battery pack. It is left there with them when they get there. It is why they really cannot move from spot they are left.

Also, they do periodic medical wellness checks on them and I'm sure that's when they swap out batteries as needed and probably video cards to take back and review progress.

Theresa looked like she was in big trouble there. And that Bear encounter that Rose had was pretty scary to watch. That frick turned and started walking towards her.

It's really been a terribly directed season.

we've seen them fishing a good bit, but you really aren't seeing anyone catch much. The only person they've shown carry the bow around to hunt was Clay, and i think one of the girls early did. Was it not Biko that said one of his rules was to always have his bow when he walks. Is he not walking b/c i don't know if he even has a bow, just like all the rest of the contestants, they haven't even showed them with the bow.

I hope Clay doesn't starve himself with all the meat he has like that guy did in one of the earlier seasons with all the fish he had. I can't see any of these other people staying much more than about 3-4 weeks unless they start catching some serious food.

I've said it before, but i wish they had some kind of counter of stats for each contestant and could give you a recap after each episode.
show their weight loss, how much fish, how much meat, how much foraging calories they've eaten/stored. I'd like to know where each of them stand.

They try so hard to make it a drama show when that's not what it is sometimes. If there's two people left battling it out, then fine, play that out, but the last two seasons it was extremely clear who was going to win, and this year is heading that way too. There's no reason to try to make us believe Clay isn't going to win at this point, or Roland and Jordan the last two years. Just show what everyone is doing great at, show them fricking surviving. We don't need to waste 5-7 minutes of a 45 minute show on someone being scared by a bear. There's bears everywhere and everyone has encountered them. They are a nuisance to the show. I'd say they could have easily trimmed a good two whole episodes worth of pointless crap thus far and it wouldn't change a single thing about the show for me. Take the Montana British girl for example. Her hut looks awesome. Spend more time on that aspect, not her feelings. She seems to be a great forager, show more of that, and what she's doing in that regards, same with Colter and the same with his shelter. I don't recall them talking about building his shelter at all. I'm glad they showed him talk about preserving the mushrooms and cranberries. Who knew he had so much food stored? That is what the show is about more than anything. I don't mind hearing about their loneliness from time to time, but the focus should be more on what they are doing to survive. Most of these people are teachers of survival. I like to hear the whys and hows of what they are doing out there.

I agree. I get that they want to dramatize things but they don’t need to always dramatize everything. The bear encounter with Rose I thought was appropriate to show because she almost tapped and then pulled it together.

I was shocked Colter had 30 lbs of mushrooms. That’s pretty strong. Now he just needs to get some fat and protein.

Yes. that's pretty amazing. Same with Theresa with the rose hips i think it was or some other fruit, and they showed how many calories she was getting a day from them, which was pretty substantial. Granted you can't live just on that, but you supplement that with some good protein every now and then and they can be out there for a while.

I think it was incredibly stupid for them to do it at this location with all the bears, and i think they did it on purpose to get the drama from it. Seems like a really stupid risk to take. There's obviously big predators like this everywhere they have been in previous seasons, but this is much different. Almost all of them have encountered bears at very close distances. If any of those bears feel like killing them, they can and will. It's like they picked this place just so they could have these close encounters to put on tv, and that's not what this show should be about. Someone is going to get killed if they keep picking locations like this.

THIS

Every episode I end up hoping she and her stupid pencil line eyebrows and stupid accent will tap. The accent wavers in and out and seems that it's her "gimmick".

No thanks.
