She does have an awesome shelter so I kind of want her to stick around to see how it fares in the dead of winter, but her accent and demeanor is insufferable.

The bear encounter with Rose I thought was appropriate to show because she almost tapped and then pulled it together.

One of the few times (at least that they show) that I've seen someone grab the button and talk themselves off the ledge.

They also do drum up the drama, which is annoying. I saw Jordon had posted on Reddit that he easily could have survived for a while on his moose and his lack of fat intake was dramatized. I guess if you're that good they have to do something lol

I think she is sexy as hell and she literally almost died. She has been pretty tough. She really seems to understand the foraging side and the fishing line idea is original. I know she was focused on the shelter. But she should have attempted that in the first few days..

It's like they picked this place just so they could have these close encounters to put on tv, and that's not what this show should be about. Someone is going to get killed if they keep picking locations like this.

I am looking forward to a more tropical survival setting in potential future season(s). Even WITH clothes, it will be amazing to see how these "experts" work to survive the unwavering onslaught of mosquitoes. The construction of a shelter will present very new/different challenges. You'd need a location with plenty of bamboo &/or palm trees for the shelter material. There's only so much you might be able to cut based on availability + risk of cutting down coconuts for vital drink + eat = natural sugars. You can also use the coconut to make a sunscreen to keep you protected from the sun.

Plus, you've got to REALLY bulk up prior to being dropped off on a beach/remote island to live off of your fat stores even if you get an island with PLENTIFUL fishing, crabs, coconuts, bananas, etc. The heat/humidity will cause a phenomenally fast drop in weight.

I wonder how modern of a fishing pole you'd be allowed to bring to a tropical location in lieu of a bow/slingshot. How much line + how many hooks would they permit?

If the water is not too cold, they could just spear fish. I don't think it would be that hard..

nah. that's way too easy. You'd have multiple people out there for 100+ days.
They could never put them somewhere fresh water isn't easily available, so that would be a bigger island with some kind of water feature on it, and if it's a big island, it's going to have plenty of food on it outside of the fishing.

They've made this season really hard by not allowing gill nets until day 45. That seriously hampers their passive food gathering efforts.

my thought being that would give us FAR more content to watch & learn from instead of bear fears for 10 minutes of a pre-commercial break, commercials, then back from commercial then over to the next survivor & their bear...

I'd think 1 of those salt water to fresh water conversion things like on life rafts would be 1 of the 10 items or maybe 1 of the "given to all contestants" items.
I don't think "easy" is the issue at that point. the psychological aspect of the island isolation, the sun, the bugs, etc. would be an issue. Also, there's only so much stuff to burn on an island. Eventually downed palms, coconut husks, branches, etc. is all burned up by your camp/cooking fire. Madness MIGHT ensue much faster than we think it would.

It’s gonna come down to the guy that killed the deer (Tim?)and the guy who gained 45 lbs just for the competition(Biko?).

Fake UK (Theresa) lady is out next, followed closely by Colter. There are only two or three episodes left. I doubt anyone makes it 60 days. I’m guessing 50-55 at most for the winner.

There is literally nothing to eat.

except deer, which they've showed only one contestant actively hunting for.

It got cold QUICK. They were talking big about the edible plants & all the berries + mushrooms then BAM! Snow/ice.

I have to figure that if I'm going on this show = I'm spending every waking day bulking up like Biko did but I'm also building my cardio/stamina to hike/hunt, build, etc. In the 1st 2 weeks I am going HARD with shelter building, gathering, & hunting. You just have to get as much as you can as soon as you can & keep it safe so that once the cold shows up - THEN you can take your time & conserve the calories to ride the long hard time.

I don't know about the fat frick. He's been complaining about his bad ankle for the past few shows and in the last episode a mouse ate his ankle brace bindings. If he has paracord, he can at least fake something to secure it to his foot.

But to me, he's gotten a bit whiny about his bad ankle and I can see him tapping.

Another boring episode for the most part. Though my heart did start to race when that bear got that close.

So four people left? Don’t even care at this point.

Disappointed.

Pretty much where my mind is about this season's show.

Not being able to hunt certain species, not being able to put out fishing nets until day 45 and overall lack of game to hunt period has made this show more about who can starve the longest.

The contestants having to frequently deal with the brown bear situation is the only real drama in the show.

I've got the mindset that the show's producers are not going to be happy until one of their contestants are attacked by one of those grizzlies.

If it ever does happen, there's really no help for those people unless they can get to their kit to call for help----and how long would that take?????

Why are contestants only making 1 fish trap, if any, per location?

Wouldn't it make sense to build a fish trap every other day or every 3rd day to increase your chances in that area?

why did we get a skipped week/no episode?

Surely History channel isn't worried about competing for ratings vs. the Olympics...?
