why did we get a skipped week/no episode?

Not sure. They posted a clips show from prior seasons on line. Maybe everybody got bored and just decided to skip a week.

Not sure I’d eat a dead bird that was floating in the lake and is full of worms.

Those two bull trout are huge for him. He might have a chance to be there a while.

I can't believe most if not all the people didn't have their gill nets ready to go on day 45.

It looked like 3 of the 4 put theirs together pretty quickly. For the people on shore it doesn't appear to be helping. The guy in the boat is the one that scored big.

They are editing the show in such a way that it looks like Biko is starting to crack. The girl is done and she knows it.

With only 2 episodes left I don't see this season going past 70 days.

If there's another season, I really hope they put these people in places with a better chance of catching food. I don't think anyone wants to see who can out-starve the each other.

Yep. The restrictions on what animals could be taken and the 45 day wait to put in gill nets made getting food way more difficult.

Seems like that is what it's come to for this seasons show. The only real danger so far is from the brown bears in the area that sometime roam through the areas they have their shelters set up in. Early on there was that cougar sighting close to one of the shelters.

Other than that, it's come down to finding food since the real cold weather seems to be hit or miss and not staying around to really test their resolve.

I don't understand why his ankle prevents him from hunting. It's way easier with a bum ankle to slowly walk through the woods looking for game than to walk down a rocky sloping embankment to fish.

Is there a reason why they have never done a season somewhere in Alaska?

From what I could find, they usually film on indigenous controlled lands, thus some of the restrictions placed by the native tribes as to what they can, and can not do.

I feel pretty certain there are plenty of indigenous controlled land areas available in Alaska. I do know from watching shows like "Alaska, The Last Frontier", "Life Below Zero" and other "off the grid" type shows, there are some restrictions places on people not indigenous to the area like who can hunt what legally.

I remember a show where Agnes Hailstone, wife of Chip Hailstone, and her daughters were allowed to go out in a boat to hunt seal, but Chip was not allowed to since he was not an indigenous native of Alaska.

As soon as that camera zoomed in on the worms in that bird, I said "Not no, but HELL NO" I'd not be eating that bird.

Just like that gal who ate those 2 dead fish floating near her camp. I know they're hungry, but that is flirting with parasites, and/or food poisoning since you don't know what they died from.

Her accent is stronger now,8 episodes in than when she first started. Makes no sense. How do you live in the us till your 27 and then move to the UK and pick up an accent. It's stupid

I don't get why fishing that lake would be so difficult. I would have built a floating deck or a really long pier to get away from shore.

Also why doesn't anyone pick a Slingshot over the bow and arrow? Every one is lugging it everywhere. But only one person has killed anything. There are birds and small animals they could have killed.

With arrows designed for small game AND large game, the bow is more versatile. Pay attention to the arrow tips they use for hunting grouse. It's different from a broad head.

So the bow allows you to shoot at a variety of animal sizes.

You're not killing anything bigger than a rabbit with a slingshot.

They haven't killed anything and they have a limited number of arrows (6 I think). With the Slingshot you get like 50 ball bearings. Plus you can use a smooth rock in a pinch. You can kill birds, squirrels, rabbits and a small deer with a good shot. There are people that only hunt with Slingshots.

There is a lot of confusion as to whether they can kill squirrel or not. Some are saying you just can't trap them. Others are just saying that it is a particular type of squirrel. I'd kill and eat them anyway. Same with fish. Let them try to fine me. I'm not losing 500k over a few $500 fines.

I’m sure they agree to abide by the same rules and that violations of those would result in getting kicked off the show and/or becoming ineligible for the prize.

It's called the "Madonna Syndrome". Madonna spent some time in England and all of a sudden she had a British accent.

Posh bitch.

It’s probably b/c it’s simply not a lake that has a lot of fish, and it’s deep as hell, so you have to get away from the shore to get anything, well away from the shore.

Don’t be silly, the only way to win is to kill big game. And you can kill anything with a bow that you could with a slingshot.

And also, they haven’t showed everyone carrying around the bow everywhere other than Clay. No one else seems to be trying to actively go out and hunt, and I don’t understand that.
I’d bet money every single one of them has been in the presence of a grouse anytime they’ve actively hiked around. If you’re not looking for them, you probably won’t see them, but they are everywhere, and they are dumb.

Agreed that this is one of the most surprising things about this season. Don’t get it at all.

Agree. I've watched a lot of survival shows and I don't recall anyone being so adept at a slingshot that it was a game changer. I have seen several adept people with bows and arrows make game changing kills.

On the Grouse...The show was showing them plentiful in the beginning but haven't been showing any footage of the birds in the last several episodes. They've either left the area or the contestants aren't going after them.

I think waiting until day 45 to use a gill net was just wrong. Some of the people that tapped might have still been in the game if was available from day one.

It appears to me that they don't want a 80+ day contestant. They seem to want this wrapped up in about 60 days.

In a survival show like this, the constants should be able to hunt anything out there. There have to be places where they can do this.

I've never seen anyone use the Slingshot on the show. But I've just watched the last 3 seasons. I just think it would be easier to carry, more ammo and more accurate against small game. I don't think you are given different heads for the arrows. Colter, the big guy and girls were carrying bows everywhere. None of them have killed anything.

Clay missed a bird big time. I bet he didn't get that arrow back. I think he would have hit it with a Slingshot.

I agree they don't want it going too long after season and the 100+ day challenge. The shelters are so bad this season though. Nobody is lasting through a big snow storm. They all have tarp roofs.
