Am I just way wrong in thinking if I had the boat made that I could spend most of my day (on good weather days) in the boat with a few lines out while ALSO setting a gill net or 2?

The chance to win $500,000 & go fishing alone most days whole out there = life goal.

Colter was playing with fire. His last episode, it was 16 degrees and he was WAY out in the middle of the lake in his boat. If he went over, he's most likely dead. The time it would take him to try and radio for help AND get back to dry land AND have the safety personnel get out there. It was as sketchy as any scenario I've seen on the show.

Well he was in that boat for weeks and never fell out of it, so i think he was ok, but yeah if he went in the water when it was in the teens and he was way out there, he'd probably die. he was standing up in that boat and it looked very stable. i do'nt think he was worried about falling out.

He should have set out a bunch of lines tied to something that floats. Just use it during the day where you can watch them pretty regularly for movement. Challenge would be finding something buoyant enough that the fish wouldn't take it under and you never find it.

It’s official. Regardless of the reasons, this is the least interesting season ever of Alone.

I waited to start watching until last week since I usually can't stop watching, but this is the first season that I've fallen asleep during an episode.

Frustrating to watch when none of them seem to be making an effort to go hunting outside of Clay.

I was pulling for the lady that can't choose between being British or American since she made probably the greatest shelter of all time on the show, but it looks like she's given up on fishing.

I'm also not sure why only one of the contestants tried setting snares for rabbits. The whole season is just more annoying than interesting.

And I'm gonna be pissed if the fat guy ends up winning just because he started out fatter than everyone else. He's shown zero ability to do anything other than make a shitty knife.

He also has a good attitude for being out there.

That woman does have the best designed shelter, only one that gives it competition is Rock House.

Anyone ready for the season finale so we can finally put a stop to watching this starvation snooze fest of a season?

He lost close to 100 pounds in a little over 70 days and was not coming close to getting food. Everyone has a breaking point.

Clay deserved this one. Had he lost because of another hunting restriction with the fischer that was raiding his food that would have sucked.

They don't ever need to return to this location

Worst season ever, clay deserved to win but Bilko could have starved him out. Bet he was pissed when he found out he was one of the last two left

I had a feeling he was going to tap when he started talking about his family having Thanksgiving without him and all the good food he was missing out on. Big guys have a food weakness, or they wouldn't be that big.

Combine that with his lack of success in acquiring food and it was a no-brainer.

Clay snaring 2 hares was a stroke of luck only to have that fisher discover his traps and steal his rabbits before he could get to them-------and not be able to do anything about the fisher since it was protected.

Yeah, that location had far too many restrictions that really hampered the contestants ability to hunt and defend themselves.

It's tough since this is probably my favorite show, but yea, this season was not good at all.

Surely there has to be someplace they can go next season without hunting restrictions. The starvation game passes me off, and I'm really glad the fat guy lost.

Here's an Entertainment weekly Interview with Clay:

LINK

He had more food than we saw:

What did you kill while you were out there, and what was your diet like?

quote:

When I first got there, I killed a grouse pretty early on, I think it was within the first couple days. And I was eating some fireweed greens, and then there were some wild carrots. Probably like day five or six, I started catching fish. And I think the whole time I was there I caught maybe six or seven fish. The fishing was very, very tough. I killed a few more grouse, and then I finally got the deer, which was massive.

I don't think we ever saw one grouse killed from any of the contestants. I think the bad editing really impacted our perception of the season. The producers seem to think we fans want to watch people suffering rather than showing the hunting and bush craft skills.

So all 3 of the guys who have killed big game have won. That seems to be a key to winning. That’s not really surprising.

So so bummed Biko didn’t win, but I always figured anyone who bagged big game would win.

This was an interesting season, food was crazy scarce for everyone. I wasn’t fond of the fishing and trapping restrictions.

I was glad he didnt win. He spent all his time trying to entertain everyone and making dumb shite when he should have been trying to get food. His fishing skills was total shite and he never tried to trap or kill anything

Clay deserved it 100 times over that clown. His constant whining about missing his family made me nauseous. He knows he has to eat and find food but instead, he is basically working on his social media BS. LOL.

Coulter was the real loser. His ability to build things was his ticket to the win. Once he had the boat, he should have expanded his fishing presence. He should have won and it should not have even been close.

Multiple nets, move the net more and do some fishing from different areas. He had the tool that could have won him 500K. He just did not use it correctly

Clay deserved it

Absolutely terrible season. I have no idea why they chose that area with those restrictions. If Clay didn't record it how would the producers know if he killed that fisher?

Out of curiosity, I googled Clays name to see if I could read some post game interviews about his time in the woods and I stumbled across his You Tube Channel. He's really pretty good at discussing the show.

Here's is a pretty good video of the family while he was gone leading up to the phone call to his wife and what happened to him immediately after he was removed from the field.

LINK

He also breaks down every episode and I found the penultimate episode 10 recap very enlightening.

LINK

He really gives high praise to Coulter and essentially says if not for the restrictions he probably would have one.

Enjoy if interested.

I was rooting for Theresa. So I was bummed she was pulled. She had a great attitude. Just couldn't get any game. I don't know if she tried trapping or shooting birds. She was foraging a lot and was getting some sustenance. At one time, she said she was getting over 1K a day through vegetation. She would have won in a better area with more plants and not in winter.

Do you think that women are at a disadvantage on the show? I am mainly just talking about the weight part. A starving contest in between a 130lb woman and a 300lb man doesn't seem fair. I know she needs way less to sustain. But he tapped out like 2 days after her and still weighed over twice as much. He could have lost another 40 before he would have been in extreme danger..
