why did you hate Cade so much?
Didn't hate him, just really didn't like his strategy and overconfidence. Even showed up in his Facebook post, he made sure to say that he walked more than anybody in the history of the show and lost weight quicker than anybody in the history of the show. My post earlier on on this page kind of summed it up.
I personally just don't believe him when he said he tried to fish a lot. He said multiple times on camera that I came in here knowing that I had to kill big game to last. They never once showed him trying to fish or him even saying anything about fishing not going well for him. They also do a good job showing what all the contestants fail at because that's typically good tv
It was clear his thinking was BEaR bEaR BEAr moOSe beAr MooSE Bear. It was funny though because the day he passed out he spent the morning building a blind to hunt out of because he found what he thought was going to be a perfect bear/moose spot. But then it cuts to him leaving saying he just can't sit out there any longer and in the bottom corner the show said TWO HOURS LATER. Really? You built a blind and couldn't sit in it for longer than two hours?
He just got on my nerves.
Although I wisht they would have showed his shelter. They didn't show him building it at all and it looked really nice. One of my favorite part of the show is when someone builds a really nice shelter.

Not a very good season. Once again, food is scarce, unless you can fish. There are medical checks every ten days or so, but we’ve seen none of them. Why not? I’d like to know their weight and vitals as we move along.
Agreed. This has been a very boring season so far.
I remember in one of the earlier seasons they would show the medical checks and them DQ'ing some one.

I don’t think anyone is gonna get any big game or else they would have shown it by now.
I feel like I keep seeing something in the opening lines and it makes me think that someone will kill something.
Won't be another Roland to hop on the back of some big game and slit their throat

i thought the same thing. I was like, mutha fricka you got nothign else to do, and why the hell you sitting in it during the middle of the day? wait until dusk, or get there before the sun comes up.
hell if you really want to kill a bear then catch some fricking fish and hang all the fish carcass in a box, to protect it from birds, right next to the lake so that every bear in the vicinity can smell it, then build your blind and sit there all day and night until you kill a bear. you give it about 3 days, and if a bear hasn't found it by then, then they probably don't have any bears in that area.

same here. i want to know why they built what they built and i want to see the process. Hell i'd be fine with some fast forwarded version of the complete build, then spend a few minutes after its built talking about it. they should basically do a tour of it. I want to know how far away from water they are, or how far an excellent berry patch is. I want to know where they expect the wind to blow from. what is the ground like? are there a on of rocks, is it sandy, or clay? You know, focus on actual survival talk and not sob stories from their past.
Supposedly more than half the contestants aren't boiling water this season, and i haven't seen many that have built fireplaces in their shelter. I don't think they need a fire all night either, but come winter time they are going to want that fire in the shelter to cook food with and warm up from time to time.

He totally came off on the show like he went in thinking he was unbeatable and could kill anything. He talked way to cocky for me. Then when he loses his arrows and can't kill enough food to stay, it makes him look like he was "all hat, no cattle," in a very douchey kind of way. I'm sure it might have been editing, but his cockiness was way over the top for me.

While i dont' want to see grandma's on the show, i get that it's still a show and you can't have 10 slightly overweight guys skilled in survival on the show b/c they might all stay out there 100 days. They have to have some diversity in the cast, and its cool to see what type of person last longer out there. Just last season we had Kari Lee last 75 days and almost win as a grandma. I enjoyed her on the show, even though my first impression was she's got no chance, but she actually did.
I don't want to see nothing but grandmas on the show, but like you said, Kari Lee did quite well. I've been surprised at how well some of the women do, since I started watching this show. Age doesn't seem to matter a lot. They need the right skills and a bit of luck.

This is why editing is so important on a show like this. I still don't think they focus enough on showing actual survival skills, bushcraft and actually how much food each contestant is gathering. This show needs to be a learning experience for the novice people interested in the outdoors and how to take it to the next level. I think it's safe to say most here don't give a rat's arse about the homelife stories. Everyone has a sob story to tell.
This show is supposed to ne "Alone" but it's now "Lonely"

this history channel is slowly trying to change the show into one of their stupid alien/ghost shite reality drama shows as best they can with the editing.
I don't think they realize that people that watch the ghost/alien crap, aren't watching Alone. People that watch Alone aren't interested in watching a fake drama. They are watching a survival show, so focus on the survival.
If i wanted to watch some fake drama bullshite i'd watch naked and afraid.

I'm always bummed when someone with the makings of a legit shelter taps out, seeing someone construct a good shelter is one of the best parts of the show.

Week 7 show was pretty lame. One guy dealing with rotting cache of fish and grouse, one gal not having the strength to venture to the blueberry patch without taking a few days of rest and soup from foraged material. Couple guys having fishing net troubles and only one guy catching 2 fish, a grouse and a squirrel to help his chances.
So far, no big game taken but we do get the occasional shot they have on file of the black bear on camera.

This episode was painful to watch. Hell, we didn't even have the typical "I miss my family" segments.
I can't believe in all of the hours of footage the editors have to go through that they couldn't put together a more interesting episode.

I can tell just by the amount of responses to this thread that people are not into this season of Alone. Very little traffic on this site in relation to the show and way down from seasons past.

The one thing that everyone forgets about is that the regrets/miss my family/personal demons come into play when the weather gets rough. When they cannot get food and have to sit in their shelters day after day when they are starving and freezing and weak, this is the stuff that exploits their weaknesses and breaks them.
The mental part of survival then becomes the hardest part. It's easy to push the negative out when you can go outside and catch food and the sun is shining, etc. Being cooped up in misery makes it an entirely different kind of survival. The comforts of home with your spouse and kids becomes too attractive to continue.
People nowadays are never alone because of their phones, tv, and internet. Out there, it's just a person inside his own head. Self reflection scares the living crap out of most people.

I actually thought this was one of the better episodes. They were actually out doing stuff instead of just cooped up in a tent drowning in their sorrows.
I think Wyatt and Alan are definitely the two to beat. I kind of give the edge to Wyatt because he is never talking about home and clearly has a nice food stash (though they are not showing it). I could easily see Alan winning it as well.
For an ex model, Melanie has made it farther than I expected, so props to her, but she is going soon. There's only so many berries a person can eat. She seems to genuinely love them
I kind of like Taz but he seems to not be able to catch a break. I think that's gong to wear on him a bit. I feel like you need something to go your way every now and then to keep your positivity up and he just getting any. At least on what they are showing.
I go back and forth with Mikey. He's a big dude so can probably go a while before medical would remove him but he just isn't getting enough food and doesn't seem to be trying to hard to get any more than he's getting. Plus he's got like 10 kids and seems to be really missing his one boy that can't talk.

My money is on Alan. But Wyatt just lost his last treble hook Diablo Thunder or whatever he called it.
Mikey is so hard to watch too.
They keep showing someone ice fishing in the intro and that's what I'm looking forward too.

How the fishing guys don't know to put long leaders on their lines baffles me.
So many crazy sharp teeth in the water. Why risk losing your precious hooks?
Also- why only 1 gill net? If you've got the material - make as many as you can. Same for setting snares.
I also want a running tally of everything they've hunted, foraged, & supplies they've found/used.

ive been sticking around, but yeah. this season kinda a snooze fest and im not a fan of many of the contestants.
Taz outright infuriates me. that man has wasted so much good food.

I haven’t watched last night yet, but as of now I’m rooting for Cade, which is a complete 180 from my initial opinion on him.
Hope I don’t eat my words after the newest episode.

I also think the producers and show runners leave too much on the shelf. For example, I’d love to see a YouTube series run by the show that showcases past winners and elite performers going in depth on how they engineered and built their shelters, crafted items, etc. Hearing Roland and Jordan talk about that stuff in depth would be awesome.

Considering he tapped in episode 4, I'd like to place a large wager that he doesn't win this season.
