I didn't see all the problems everyone else did with this show. I enjoyed it. It had some hokey moments, but it's based on a major market comic book property and is on network. It's not going to be gritty and depressing like an FX show would.
They had an unenviable task of familiarizing people with a universe they may or may not be aware of from the movies, while also introducing a whole host of new characters and storylines to get the series running.
I can understand minor quibbles with the characters, that happens after every pilot. But what also happens after every pilot is that characters change and develop.
As far as storylines go, I thought it was a bit derivative of the first season of Heroes. But when everyone on this board talks about how Heroes was great for Season 1 and trailed off after, how is that a problem?
They introduced some good mysteries to keep going back to all season while they continue their round up of the usual characters.

Tell me I heard correctly when they identified the piece of tech from the blown up lab as Shi'ar!

That would be cool but they said Chintauri. That's the made up race that was in the movie.

I know they said that about the tech at the beginning but I could have sworn that Fitz? Simmons? Said the piece from the lab that was leaking gamma was Shi'ar

I'll go back and check tonight. I leave captions on for everything and I'm pretty sure they said Chitauri there too.

The Chitauri are the Ultimate Marvel version of the Skrulls. They were imported into the mainstream Marvel storyline as enemies of the Nova Corps.
In other words, it's a tie in to Guardians of the Galaxy.
Could someone fill me in on the "tahiti" reference?

It was most definitely Chitauri. I had to rewind and remind my wife that those were the aliens from the Avengers.

Of course they were. I was just testing you guys to see if you knew that.

Just watched the Comic con teaser for this today. Can't see a ton but it got me kinda jacked to see it.

Nothing to fill. It's a mystery to be revealed down the road I guess. Maybe they're implying he actually did die and that this Coulson is a life model decoy that thinks he's real.

Was tonight's better a significant improvement from last week? I thought last week's show was some of the worst television I have ever witnessed. It was a poor man's version of a poor man's version of Alphas.

Nope. It seems like this show is filmed in the 80's or 90's. The cheap attempts at super heroes.

One word.
Predictable.

More unoriginal regurgitation of themes from the movies. Removed it from my DVR schedule.

Wow some of you suck.
Fury
Fury
Probably by design (lots of $$$ riding on this between Marvel and Disney) but its been mediocre tv so far, Fury cameo or not.
Im going to stick it out because it takes time for a show to find itself and its not like there are better options on right now. Still potential for a good show here.
Counting down the days until Hannibal and Mad Men come back.

I find this show to be 60 minutes of popcorn entertainment. It isn't supposed to have superior writing.
When you see a show titled Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D you shouldn't expect Shakespearean writing and themes.

This makes me sad. You can be an excellent writer or show and not be anything like Shakespeare.
Chuck was a great show that wasnt "serious." It had great writing and hit on important themes.
SHIELD has potential, but it has some work to do to approach that level.

I agree. The show is going to take some time to find it's groove, like most of Whedon's other shows. If I'm still feeling "meh" after 10-12 episodes, then I'll start being ready to call it a clunker.
