Peele is not good at satire. His messages are ham-fisted and obvious.

That was kind of one of the big issues with Get Out. You can figure out everything pretty quickly and then it's like, "oh wait, we have to keep going for another hour where it's a generic 00s-level slasher movie?"

Like it has been said multiple times, technically he's very good. He's clearly extremely detail-oriented. Also the comparisons to MNS are valid, both in terms of their positives and negatives.

It is always hilarious coming into the Movie Board and seeing people shite on Get Out when the whole premise is it laughing at liberal whites and pointing out how liberal whites are extraordinarily racist.
Ummm…everyone knows that.

It is still an average movie.

There are multiple people in this thread chiding the movies as absurd and unrealistic

Again, CLEARLY not. This thread alone shows that to not be the case.

Lots of people ar e going to find any movie unappealing. In this case though a significant subset of those claiming to not like the movie saw it expecting a horror movie, didn’t realize what they were watching and now through a combination of embarrassment and “muh liberals/blacks” go out of their way to attack it at every opportunity. The fact that they especially dont realize the movie is actually attacking liberals just makes it even better

I’m starting to feel like the only person on the planet who didn’t hate nope

Maybe I was swayed by ponies? But I wasn’t looking for anything more than a fun summer alien movie

Clearly so.

Peele is not subtle. Everyone got it pretty quickly.

It's just there are people out there, hipster types, that like to fellate each other over the fact that they discovered the message.

That is what is funny. Here is a sample exchange:

Douche: You don't get O Brother Where Art Thou. . .it is secretly a retelling of The Odyssey

Everyone else: Yeah, we know

Douche: I picked up on the subtle parallels and clues.

Everyone Else: The parallels were explicit, and the clues were blatant.

Douche: I am so smart. You clearly don't get it.

Everyone else: Bless your heart.

I liked Get Out. But you do realize it's possible for someone to dislike it or think it sucked and also not be a "racist liberal white," right?

Get Out was solid, but vastly overhyped by the media (someone nailed it with the "guilty white people" thing earlier). Us could have been great but ended up being pretty laughably stupid in the end.

It's okay to not like Jordan Peele movies, and it certainly doesn't make you racist if you don't. But you do you, Scotty P.

So you are saying all original ideas are inherently good? "The Room" was an original idea. Should we all consider it great, because it was original?

Please.

Don't give me this, "if you don't like Peele's films, it is because you aren't refined enough" bullshite. His movies aren't particularly clever or intelligent. . .and are as subtle as a porno.

This is like comparing Stephenie Meyer to JRR Tolkein.

Never said “if you don’t like Peele’s films, ……. etc.”. I said his films are viewed as good films and have original ideas. Read.

Just watched Nope. Those of you who said it was a steaming pile of shite weren't lying. it was terrible. I found the lead actress to be more annoying than funny, and the "creature" was a huge disappointment.

I liked nope. Had it’s issues but a fun mindless summer movie. Ending was a bit abrupt and they didn’t really play up the terror/suspense aspect at all.

I think he could suffer from M Night syndrome. Everything will be compared to the early work.

Conservative white dude if that counts for anything.

I hated the movie, but Keke Palmer was really good.
