Like previously mentioned, having a boss be ULTRA woke to comical effect would be great, but you would have to poke fun a good bit at that worldview and I cannot see them doing that.
The woke do not have senses of humor.

Will be an absolute disaster.
1. I'm assuming Steve Carrell won't be involved. The original (USA) version went downhill quickly after his departure. Why would anyone think a new version would do any better?
2. What made the office great was the uncomfortable irreverence of Michael Scott. I'd venture to guess 50%-70% of the funniest moments of the office could not be replicated in the pathetic social climate Hollywood is pressing on society. We live in a humorless world because leftist losers have gained a complete foothold on the media and have decided being a "victim" or perpetually "offended" is virtuous and some sort of goal to achieve.

Why Hollywood execs give in to the writers is beyond me. Writers haven’t created new content in years.

Which is why it would work so well to go the complete opposite direction of Michael Scott and have an ultra ultra woke, equally clueless boss.
But they won't do it like they would need to so it won't work.

When Daniels first started talking about this a year ago, his idea was "an extension of the Universe, sort of like The Mandalorian is an extension of the Star Wars Universe".

It could work. And it doesn't need to be the opposite.
Archie bunker is homer Simpson is Michael Scott is tue next manager of the office.
It shouldn't be at Dunder Mifflin. New industry. New characters. New plot pines. This isn't rocket science.
It could be a local satellite distributor or something.

Is the different than the Australian version they already announced that will have a woman as the "Michael" role?

Gene Stupnitsky, one of the Office creators, also created "Jury Duty" which was great. The premise is everyone but one guy on the jury is an actor. I think this would work great in an office style setting. Imagine if one of the characters on "The Office" was not an actor and thought that was their job.

odds are it will suck
but can we not do the whole "omg don't do this!! it'll ruin the original!!" thing? If it sucks, it sucks and will largely be forgotten like the Scrubs Med school thing. That doesn't affect my enjoyment of the OG seasons and nor will this if it fails miserably.
Comedy movies and sitcoms are in the absolute shitter at the moment so here's hoping it doesn't fail

They should set it in a small government department in a small town in indiana, maybe a parks department

Obviously, I see no reason to do this at all. But if they are going to do it its better to do it without any of the characters imo.
I dunno, I kind of want to see Florida Stanley in all his glory.

Maybe Gervais will use some of the new money he's going to get to do something Karl.

The problem is they can try to do this all they want but they are going to fall into the same character categories. There will still be a "Dwight" character, still be a "Jim", a "Stanley", and "Meredith". The only differences will their names and genders.

The idea of a “The Office” universe just makes me laugh. We’ve strayed too far. It’s literally a sitcom about characters in an office. It doesn’t need its own universe

That's the same thing I thought...didn't they already try this with Parks & Rec?

Cocomo. Are you being sarcastic or did the joke fly right over your head? I honestly cannot tell

Woman boss coming 100%
More than that - a highly competent woman boss who manages great things despite her team of goofy losers led by a lovable trans man. There an evil Dwight character who is basically just Dwight again.
