re: A Minecraft Movie - RT 47% Critics, 87% Audience

Saw the Minecraft movie with my kids, they loved it. Just reminded me of the random adaptation movies I made my parents take me to that I loved and they thought was strange
If I was a studio I would be hitting Nintendo up for whatever they wanted to adapt in order to create a cash cow for a summer release
But I just want to make money so probably would not be considered by Hollywood

There have to be a dozen better scripts than what we got, and yet this movie is still gonna rake in money.
I know a bit about Minecraft, have played it enough to get the gist of it, but apparently hard core fans won't be too thrilled. Then again, anything Minecraft is like nip to some of the kids.
*Literally zero reasons to DV my post.
JFC.

People bitch about a lack of creativity in Hollywood all the time.

Ah no response typical MTV board style. Marvels failed because of the mishandling of the latest MCU phase as well as poor marketing and a mediocre word of mouth, Buzzlighter failed because nobody asked for a solo film about Buzz with zero connection to Toy Story, and Snow White is failing because it's another lifeless Disney live action adaptation but at least this one has a decent audience score. But hey who wants nuance and actual criticism of movies when you just whine about the gays and woke instead

they're busy looking for the next bomb down the pipeline they can plant their moral victory flag in
Thunderbolts is only a month away

This movie looks awesome and I think it will do well. Hopefully it's not woke so it doesn't bomb.

They nailed the Mario movie. I hope the same thing happens with the Zelda movie.

Funny thing is when you bring up another reason a movie like Snow White or The Marvels fail they laugh or ignore it. It's so obvious certain posters are obsessed with "woke", because their brain malfunctions when they see something different on screen

Yes that’s the only reason reddit user dawgfan24348

back on topic.... does this movie have any opportunity for a sequel?

Of course.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the seemingly pointless subplot of the American pie mom with the villager played into a sequel script
And the post credits scene pretty much confirmed it

Its going to make a shite ton of money and seemed to have done well with its fan base so yeah it will

I usually stay out of this woke discussion, but you layout three (of many) losers from a company and follow it up with this.
Sometimes the broader trends outweigh the nuance. In this case they are out of touch with consumers, but have enough financial backing to ignore it so far. The nuance doesn't matter because they killed mass appeal and consumer trust in the brand.
ETA: I replied to the reply, dawgfan1234's post is what I was responding to.

In the theater with my family right now based on the comments from people in this thread.
Guy sweeping the floor said this is the busiest they've been in a while. I was a little surprised by that. My kids range in age from high school senior to kindergarten, and they all seem pumped. I hope it delivers for them.

BTW, was the "sneak preview" for Superman before the movie the same as has been on the internet this week?
Can confirm.
