1980’s slashers, absolutely understood the importance of titties and shocking gore on the 15 year old male brain.

The 1991 remake of "Night of the Living Dead" has been called "unnecessary", and that may be true. But I thought it was well done and had the different ending from the original.
Also, who didn't love the "Creepshow" movies? Frank Drebin burying Sam Malone in the sand at the beach...

Mothers Day was a good 80's slasher.
I wish someone could tell me the name of an 80's horror movie I saw when I was a kid.
In one scene there was a man stumbling through a desert and was violently attacked by a group of cactus, shooting their thorns into the man.
Another scene had someone slitting their wrist in front of a bathroom mirror.
I think it was a drive-in movie my brothers snuck me in to, and to this day I can't find the name of it.

This movie had to have inspired the writers of "Short Circuit."

I don't think these were mentioned
Reanimator 1&2 - good B movies in the Frankenstein genre
The Seventh Sign - young Demi Moore
Angel Heart - Rourke, Deniro, and Boney.
Debatably Horror movies:
Terminator and T2
Predator
Heathers
Interview with the vampire

I don’t know why, but I never thought Polyergeist was particularly scary. It had some tension, but I never had a real sense of dread…

Poltergeist scared the shite of me when I was a kid.

I quote this all the time and nobody recognizes my references, but Tremors was one of my absolute favorites growing up and I can quote it start to finish.
My son (5) loves it too.
I'll throw out a movie that isn't an 80s/90s movie because it came out in 2009. But it has the exact same setting as 80s horror movies. If you check it out, it literally feels like a movie that was made in like 1985. It's a VERY slow buildup, but it's really creepy and unsettling, and very good: House of the Devil.

It doesn't surprise me you are a clown lover.

Ti West made HOTD to look exactly like late 70s-mid 80s horror.
It's incredible how he did it.

Yes, scared the crap out of me as a kid. How or why my parents let me watch that escapes me.
Was it rerun a lot on a major network?

Some that aren't from the huge series from the 80s that I enjoyed were:
The Burning
The Prowler
Tom Savini was involved in both. Some particularly violent death scenes in the Prowler. And that infamous raft scene in the Burning.
One more off the beaten path is Sleepaway Camp II. It is filled with humor and doesn't take itself too seriously. Angela Springsteen (Bruce's sister) playing the killer, Angela Baker, does excellent with the material.

The Blair Witch Project deserves credit for a damned good effort. They just couldn’t quite figure out an ending that worked as well as the rest of the movie,

Near Dark was great. Too bad that more people didn’t see it.

Halloween 3 is my favorite horror film.
