James Hardin.

Dude is always playing all out, no matter the score. No matter if his other teammates have given up. Constantly aggressive on defense, making his opponent earn every bucket.

I love how Bill Laimbeer is one of the first players mentioned as being blue collar, one of the 1st I thought of as well.
And at the time he was the only NBA player that was earning less than his father.

Oakley feuded with former Cavalier Tyrone Hill over money he said Hill owed him from a dice game in 2000. During the 2001 season, Oakley and Hill were both benched during a preseason contest after the two got into a slap fight. Later that year, Oakley was fined $10K and suspended a game for hitting Hill in the head with a ball during a shootaround

Rudy LaRusso, from the '60s. Italian father and Jewish from his Mom's side.

Yeah, I know 99.99% of the posters here never heard of him, but the guy was a real player, at a time when men were men, players could play, and sports were sports. Not this crap of
today.

"Havlichek stole the ball ! Havlichek stole the ball!" Greatest 6th man in the history of the NBA. B.L.was one of the dirtiest players in the league every yr he was in the league. But put him in the post at his prime of dirtiest play and Labron does not have half of his dunks.

You chose the wrong guy in that pic. Raja Bell ftw. I also really like another ex Spur, Danny Green. Early Lance Stephenson was also great. If you’re talking big brutish bigs who just played enforcer and did all the little things, the Knicks have had so many of those over the years. Antonio and Dale Davis. Oakley. Camby.

Jeez...Robert Parish is a fricking HOFer and Cedric Maxwell was a Finals MVP, was a killer in Game 7 of a Finals...and probably should be in the HOF.

It is an insult to have them in this thread with the likes of Laimbeer and Rambis.

Your Favorite "Blue Collar" or "Lunchpail" Guys in NBA history

Larry Bird was the ULTIMATE "Blue Collar" or Lunchpail" guy in NBA history due his work ethic when it came to basketball and the recklessness with which he played diving for loose balls and risking his body to secure a team possession and all that plus he was a great star too. I like Oak, Bobby Jones, Majerle, Ben Wallace, Horace Grant, those guys, MAURICE LUCAS but I always felt Larry was the ultimate when it came to that work ethic and approach.
