1.“Power league” is a completely subjective term.
2. A team decides to change conferences. Are we to believe that the federal government is going to start withholding funding from that university because of that? Get real.
Also, if the Big Ten adds a team, who in the hell is going to tell that team they are independent? If the Big Ten adds you, you’re in the Big Ten.

19 is dumb because then every season there's going to be one school that plays 8 games while everyone else plays 9 conference games. The ACC has that problem right now because they have an odd number of teams.
I guess they're going for 19 because that leaves the B1G with room for one more member and maybe they think they can pressure Notre Dame into a "now or never" situation to join.

Giving schools more certainty on compensation and allowing the NCAA to limit transfers and years of eligibility makes sense but capping the amount of conference members seems like overreach.
The article also says that if the SEC doesn't like the next landscape it might move to a "self-governance model in which the conference would establish its own rules, enforce those rules and even compete against only itself" in an attempt to run things the way they want without the courts intervening.

Go back to the conferences as they were in 1998, the start of modern college football with the BCS. No free transfers. You must sit out a year after transferring with the only exception being if your head coach is fired/leaves.
Bring back the CFB we all know and love.

Thats exactly what this is.
Id argue the SEC should walk away but if they did and put comp rules in place that were more restrictive than the B10 the top players would all leave the conference.
But absent legislation the B10 and SEC should breakaway immediately.

Ratings does not equal a good product on the field. Online betting has inflated ratings. Attendance across D1 football is trending down for over a decade. Bowl attendance has cratered.
Indiana 25’? Good story I guess but for me they will be remembered as the team with an average age of 23 years old. Congrats for working the system but a shining example of a system that’s broken.
