Republicans ALWAYS do dumb shite when they get into office, instead of cutting back on spending.

Trying to get some sort of regulation on the thing that is going to destroy college athletics is dumb shite? The current situation left unchecked is not sustainable. Someone needs to rein it it, whether it's Trump, Saban or the ghost of Abe Lincoln.

Free market. It's running now. Maybe he should worry about hedge funds and banks turning our economy into a house of cards.

Because the federal government getting involved always makes things better.

The last thing college athletics needs is the federal government getting involved with anything to do with this.
At worst this should be handled by the conferences and maybe....maybe the state legislatures.

Hate what's happening to college sports but this isn't the way.

I get it. But the only other option for righting the ship is the cluster frick known as the NCAA. The same people who created tens of thousands of 18yo unrestricted free agents.

Doesn’t Trump have more important things to worry about?
Trump asked Tubs and Saban to put together a proposal months ago to fix college sports and just saw him in Tuscaloosa where Saban introduced him as the keynote speaker at the Bama graduation.
He’s been well aware for years that CFB matters to his base and sees it dying as a result of bad federal court rulings.
So what you’re actually seeing is delegation to highly qualified subordinates resulting in tangible outcomes in a reasonably short period of time.
In other words, leadership.

Trump would never shameless put his name on something in order to make a buck. College players should take a note

This is the conundrum. The NCAA had a chance to head this off years ago. Instead of finding a way to allow students to make money from their name, image, or likeness, they tried to hold onto complete control and power. The NCAA made wrong decisions time and again until they became so paranoid about making another wrong decision, they stopped making any.
I think just letting it all crash and burn, or giving it a chance to regain some equilibrium, may be preferable to federal government involvement. But I may just be that paranoid about federal involvement in anything

The destruction of college sports seems noteworthy. NCAA surely isn’t going to save it.

College Football and College Basketball are effectively minor pro leagues with a licensing deal with local universities to use their branding. That is how people need to look at it. They are pro sports.
Some of the other college sports to a lesser extent. I am cool with them killing all of it.

If he tries it, it will end up being killed by the courts just like the rest of his executive orders are being killed.

President has absolutely zero responsibility here
The Trump cultists are downvoting but this is 100% on point. Any EO on this will get tossed by the courts just like Biden’s student loan forgiveness. Congress would need to pass legislation for any national standard

We're on the verge of his self created economic catastrophe, and he's focusing on sports?
Par for the course.

Lot of folks ITT are conditioned to the president doing absolutely nothing.

Given the state of things, how on earth does this dude have time to meet with Nick Saban?
He gave a commencement address, you know like every other president does.
