I'm with you. Brown and yellow always looks hideous together. And the Padres stupidly went right back to it last year. Yuck.

I am neutral on those uniforms...but what was the odd obsession teams in the late 70's/early 80's had with the powder blue road outfits? I know the Cardinals, Phillies, and Braves had them, and that is just off the top of my head.

It was just a fashion fad. Besides the three you mentioned the Expos, Cubs(with pinstripes), Blue Jays, Brewers, Twins, Royals, Mariners, Rangers, and White Sox all wore the powder blue roadies at one time. It started in the mid 60's with the White Sox(who tried a powder blue hat in Spring Training 1966), and mostly had died out by the late 80's when teams began a nostalgic return to the basic white home and gray road of the 50's to early 60's. The Royals and Expos were the last teams to wear powder blue for their road uniform in 1991. They are now used as alternates or throwbacks.

Retro is always in.
In the 80s people loved the mid 50s to 60s. In the 90s people loved the mid late 60s to 70s. In the 2000s the 80s got it's return. Right now its the 90s. In a few years the early 2000s will be back too.
