How can it feel equitable?
That the defense has sucked bad enough to allow the offense to be on the brink of the endzone, yet they get rewarded for said sucky play?

it’s not perfect by any means. it’s probably the most obscure rule with the largest range of outcome in terms of impact on the game. I just don’t have as much of an issue with that as I do with other rules a la automatic first downs for defensive holding etc etc

Bitch about about a bad rule but Oakland got a 55 yd penalty to get down there on 4th and 10 on a wild hail Mary that was called PI only because the rookie dB didn't turn and face the ball. Because it was underthrown.

the get rewarded because the offense fumbled in a direct attempt to score? I don’t how that is so controversial. why should the offense be rewarded for fumbling the football?

The risk is losing possession
Nothing said that ball definitely rolls out

My guess right or wrong is they want penalty for fumbling forward on purpose.

If the ball is fumbled out of the endzone and no one recovers, it should go back to the spot of the fumble just like it does if it's fumbled forward out of bounds

Who is rewarding them? They already have the ball. Explain why the defense should be rewarded the ball. What did the defense do to recover the loose ball?

That is the defense’s territory. That is why when it is fumbled out of the end zone, possession reverts to the defense.
The field is neutral territory so when the ball is fumbked out of bounds in between the end zones, possession reverts back to the team who last had possession.

IDK, the rule where you can under throw your receiver 50 yards down the field and get a pass interference call is pretty bad too.

Why does the offense deserve to get the ball if they fumble the ball through the endzone? Essentially telling the defense that because they were successful in forcing the fumble, that they should have to redo it just because nobody landed on it in time in the endzone. When offenses fumble through their own end zone( think botched snaps on punts,) should the safety rule come into effect or should the punter get another shot at a punt?
The spot of the fumble argument is lame as well. I’ve seen fumbles get fumbled and (unintentionally) kicked around 10 yards before a player finally lands on it, and every time the ball was placed where it was downed.

For me, the worst rule in football is when a punt is bouncing around on the ground and it grazes somebody's heel and it becomes a live ball that can be recovered by the kicking team.

The worst rule is the defensive PI spot foul rule. One penalty shouldn’t cost a defense 55 yards.
