All the owners should wear shirts saying " pay us back the $400 mil and we'll talk"

Do you folks actually believe that a billionaire owner is so bad at business that he hangs onto a property for 25-plus years that has no value?

So every employee that works for a company that doesn’t make a profit doesn’t deserve to get paid?

I’m not saying they should be making Steph Curry money. But your better employees who make money for your company deserve more money than the ones who don’t. Thats basic capitalism

Who said anything about not getting paid? They get their salary. If a company is losing money, do stockholders receive a dividend? If a company fails to be profitable after decades, your answer is to pay employees more? Why? Because one superstar has made it so they're not losing as much money? The WNBA should have went bankrupt many, many times. Only subsidies from an actual profitable business have prevented that.

Most people’s inability to understand the difference between being an employee and collectively bargained labor is astounding

There are people on this board that want all women's sports disbanded.

If the WNBA were a,Circus (management, leadership and most players certainly are) it would've closed its tent in 1998.

im not arguing that, I don’t watch it either. There are still some players that deserve more money.

How are you quantifying this? What are they doing to DESERVE more money? Because as I see it, the league as a total still LOSES money

shite makes no sense. Yall just say shite because it FEELS like a nice thing to say. That’s not how the world works

"50% of revenues"? So, if the league is losing $40M a year, what is 50% of that? Give the players more money & owners lose money to pay for stadium leases, travel costs, health coverage, etc. Capitalism vs the union. Any guess as to which has the most power???

You should first learn the difference between revenue and profit before trying to make a point

No they don’t they are a charity league that wouldn’t exist without the NBA paying for it.

Just pointing out that revenues and loses are 2 different things. I have never looked at the WNBA reports to see their financials, so I have no idea what their total revenues are. But if the league is making $100M in revenues, and losing $40M a year; at a 50% of revenue negotiation the salary cap would become $50M divided equally amongst the 12 teams. Of course, if the estimated $20M in current salaries is accurate, they then need to ask the NBA to add another $30M to the league (on top of the $40-50M they are projected to lose).

Of course, what is not being discussed is the new TV deal is estimated to add $200M a year in revenues. Depending on how much the current TV deal adds to the current revenues; this new deal could finally see them turning profits. The players are getting a lot of shite for their "protests", but the timing of the new TV deal, and current CBA expiring lines up perfectly for them

I completely agree with this. The stars are getting paid their worth from sponsors/endorsements. I am all for them making as much as they are in that aspect because they are generating a large amount of revenue for those sponsors. As far as the WNBA is concerned, these stars haven’t yet created enough revenue for the league itself to cause their salaries to increase. Maybe they will in the next few years. As it stands, currently, they aren’t and their pay is a direct result.

I always find it odd when white men are violently opposed to women's sports. You see it a lot on this board. I don't know if it is insecurity or a bunch of guys who just hate women.

Some of them are, according to Forbes

1) New York Liberty - $400 mil
2) Indiana Fever - $370 mil
3) Seattle Storm - $330 mil
4) Las Vegas Aces - $310 mil
5) Phoenix Mercury - $300 mil
6) Dallas Wings - $250 mil

League average is currently $272 mil

If the WNBA can continue on their current growth trend, I could see the league being viable on it's own in the near future. (That's a big "if" though)

Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Paige Buekers, A’ja Wilson, and a few others should be making way more than $78k. Clark should probably be making millions. Regardless of whether the WNBA turns a profit, she brings in a ton of revenue and probably deserves to be paid for it.

Not how that works. If CC is bringing in eyes, she will also be able to sell products, thus. get endorsement deals. That is where she can and is getting paid. more than 78K and probably in the 1 mil range. The others are also get endorsement deals, probably not as high though
