Just flip a coin. All the other tips and suggestions in this thread are complete BS. When a sustained long term winning percentage of 55% is considered elite among the professionals and 52% win percentage is needed to break even you're basically rationalizing a flip of the coin bet.

Because it is difficult to determine what is to good to be true. From backtesting 2016-2025 with numerous testing data sets I can tell you the markets in FBS and even FCS has pricing of spreads extremely accurate.

Consider style matchups. Maybe there’s something about an underdog that is naturally problematic for the favorite.
The Dolphins, with prime Marino, upset the 1985 Bears because a quick passing game was the most effective way to beat the 46 defense. The Giants upset the 2007 Patriots because they had an excellent front four that could pressure Brady.
Sometimes a team has the right mix of scheme or personnel to neutralize an overall better opponent and give it a chance to win.

This. The first year I gambled, I couldn’t lay off favorites. My older co-worker educated me and over the years I tracked his bets and mine. We were successful betting on the dogs.
