prediction? opinions on should he or should he not? We will assume he finishes out the rest of his career on a normal trajectory and not a freak injury or something.

If he can have a couple more 1,000-yard seasons I think his induction is all but assured. He has a 2,000-yard season, a 99-yard touchdown run, and a 94-yard touchdown run in his career. I don't think there is another RB in the history of the NFL who can boast such feats.

If he doesn’t get in, then it’s going to be hard for any RB’s from his era to get in

He'll have to get 2000 yards again and break the 150 yard game record

I don’t see why not. His stats is almost identical to Earl Campbell.

Normal trajectory means he going to fall off the cliff soon. If he does his career will look at lot like Shaun Alexander's, who was great for a few years but can't get in the HOF.

Probably would need a couple more 1300+ yard season and then a gradual drop off I’d guess.

I do think it’ll help that he’s going to have EVERYTHING going for him once it’s time to vote. The players and media will want him in.

Do y’all remember when Pride didn’t think Henry was all that good and then tried to pass it off as only claiming the QB position is more important than RB?

If they judge him on the era he’s playing in, he will get in easily.

Earl is considered a top ten all time RB by the people that matter. Henry will never sniff that unless he pulls off like three more 2000 yard season.

Maybe. Maybe not. However, I have a feeling nostalgia is heavily coloring those glasses you're wearing.

Earl Campbell stats:
2187 rushes 9407 yards 4.3 YPC 74 TDs

Derrick Henry stats:
1750 rushes 8355 yards 4.8 YPC 78 TDs

Assuming Henry doesn't fall off a cliff this season, he will likely surpass Campbell's career rushing yard total in 2023.

Times have changed. Yes Earl was a fricking beast but Henry is already right there with stats in 1 less season.

Hell, it used to be slam dunk HOF for a QB who threw for 25k yards in a career. Then Dan Marino threw for a 1/5 of that in one season and things changed.

Henry is this generations Earl for all intents and purposes, he’ll get in if he gets to 10k

He seems like a Priest Holmes type of guy, great player for a few years but not HOF material. Just my take

Based on stats, probably not. You have to judge him against his peers. He is the best RB of his generation most likely. If using that criteria, he’s at least a good argument for it.

People remember Earl as a RB with that epic run with his jersey torn off and they think every one of his run was like that. They don’t remember the time when Derrick Henry stiffed arm defenders into the stand.
