Frank Gore playing 16 seasons as a RB in the NFL is as impressive as any stat you'll find. He did something that no one else really was able to do.

Well I know they’re fullbacks, but Lorenzo Neal and Tony Richardson are right there in games played with Gore, but they aren’t in. Granted, they’re fullbacks, but they aren’t in, and considered two of the best fullbacks to ever do it. While not as flashy, I think that correlates to Gore in my opinion. He wasn’t flashy, no rushing records of note, just games played for a RB record.

I would imagine it's going to be a huge challenge for any current RB to make the HOF considering their short shelf life, and teams using running back by committee.

He certainly is on pace. Great back.

The simple version is this: people who saw Barry or Gale play in person will retell the story to their grandchildren. People who see Derek Henry in person will shrug and say 'Really good back', and move on.

Yes, the guy who shattered the single season SEC football rushing record, has been the best back of his generation in the pros, and is a heretofore unheard of combination of elite speed and brute strength wrapped up in a 6’3”, 240 lb package is just a “really good back.”

They did extend the season though

OJ is the only member of the 2000 club that did it in a 14 game season. With 2 or 3 extra games he could have done it twice.

Barry could have come close with an extra game in ‘94. Everyone else would have had to gone off in the final game to reach 2000 in a second season.

In short 1 extra game doesn’t provide much of an advantage. 2000 is a tough number to hit.

We will assume he finishes out the rest of his career on a normal trajectory

He is a 29 yr old rb. His normal trajectory at his position is being cut at the end of the season.

Thank god savants like Jimbo and Will Muschamp wanted that stud to play defensive end. I've stood next to Derrick Henry. He's frickin huge and it's incredible a guy his size doesn't get caught from behind. Generational talent.

I laid out parameters. IF...his splash was enough, if he doesn't have the "career".
