Why doesn’t the MLB play more games in markets without teams

Makes no sense to play in home stadiums that are half empty night after night.

Should host a raffle to play a game in a fan's front yard.

Yeah man the Phillies should play a series at Alex Box every once in awhile

I hope you’re not a businessman.

Tampa should play half its home games in Montreal.

They should do more things like the College World Series classic, Little League Classic etc in different venues. Places you know would sell out. Wouldn’t want to do it too much though. They used to play a series in Puerto Rico.

It makes sense. 81 games is a lot. Save home fans money, grow the game elsewhere, give players a unique experience

A majority of tickets sold to a baseball game are to season ticket holders. Why would a baseball franchise want to piss off their most loyal consumer base who shell out a ton of money to the team each year for a few games that bring in little additional revenue?

Dear MLB city,
It has come to our attention your current stadium that you are nearly done paying off is 25 years old. Unfortunately, this means it is hopelessly out of date and must be replaced posthaste. We have taken the liberty of partnering with your current stadium tenant to draw up some plans for a new facility which happily are estimated to cost a reasonable sum of one to two billion dollars. If you cannot meets these requirements we will be forced to relocate the team as sans new stadium they will be unable to compete within the league. Please respond within the next 30 days or we proceed to find a new home for your baseball franchise.
Hoping you are well,
MLB and Team X
PS: We have also decided that Team X will need to play roughly 1/3 of their games in cities without MLB franchises in order to remain competitive with the rest of the league. Looking forward to working with you on this deal as you are a valued business partner!

How are the Braves doing with midweek attendance at the new park in a better location?
They usually drew about 15 fans during for midweek games at Turner.

Why would you when you can just frick the area with blackout restrictions to get them to attend close games. In Hawaii I am in the local market for 6 MLB teams. A Los Angeles Angels game was blacked out on MLB TV while playing in St. Louis, for me in Honolulu. Stupidest shite ever

Why Would St.Louis, who draws 42K a game(2nd only to Dodgers and 3+ million people less) give up a home game?
They aren't the Braves, Astros, etc who cannot fill their stadiums.
Houston draws 8K less than capacity per game
Atlanta draws near 11K less than capacity
Go talk to those shite fan bases

They play in williamsport every year. The Omaha game will probably become annual. They did 2 series in Mexico City this year. They are about to play in London, and will again next season. They play in Japan and Australia from time to time.
Where else would you like to see them play?

Anywhere from Portland to NOLA.

Would all 600 Rays season ticket holders be pissed if a Monday-Wednesday series vs. Orioles got moved?
The White Sox had at least one game in April where fewer than 500 people were in attendance. Where were all those season ticket holders? They would pull more fans in literally any Southern city for a series in April.

The Rays did this before they went to the WS in 2008. They played a mid week series at Disney Wide World of Sports. They should do it again.
Each NFL team that gives up a home game gives up the equivalent of 10 home baseball games. I’d love to see the Rays play a series in Durham, although very unlikely.

We are going to lose the Rays if they do not move the stadium to Tampa. I mean this city has embraced hockey as well as any team in the country. Because the experience is awesome, the product is good, they are involved in the community. It shows.
Baseball should be similar. Yet it's completely opposite.
Move it into Tampa.
A better live experience(The Trop is the worst professional sports stadium/arena I have ever seen)
That will make more money, which in turn means you can keep your star players to grow the fan base with consistent names.
They will be gone as soon as the contract is up if something isn't done. Just annoying.
