Not to sound too much like a boomer but watch AAU highlights then watch Euroleague highlights and see where you see more fundamentals.

Hate the guy, but respect him as an athlete: LeBron James.
We can dominate any one sport if our melting block of cultures could sink up on one sport like the EU & Middle/South America.
I’m nailing a girl whose parents are from Panama. We had a heated debate about how many Haarlads (sp) are sandwiched underneath better athletes in sports like football and basketball, but would succeed in US soccer.

You might want to go watch Belgium, France, and England when they play again. They have more black guys than the USA. The European teams with the most white guys (Scotland and Bosnia) sucked.

European sports are set up differently. They send their kids to train like pros early and their youth sports aren't run like American youth sports that are more designed to drain your wallet than they are to actually teach your kid proper fundamentals.

The best white American athletes are playing football and baseball. Guys like George Kittle, Dylan Ctrews, and Bobby Witt Jr are just as good athletically as any white Euro.

More or less something like that. I read an article once that talked about the original Dream Team’s impact on basketball in Europe that talked about this.
The Dream Team lit the spark and European countries started really developing their basketball programs. Their basketball programs are run like their soccer programs: start developing their skills early and get their basketball fundamentals engrained.

Its just the technical ability. Europeans obsess over soccer at a young age and the entire youth system harnesses this.
Americans are obsessed with raw talent like sprint speed, agility, and other pure athletic traits and completely ignore how much deeper the skill/technical level goes.
After a certain level of athleticism, soccer becomes a matter of technical ability and teamwork believe or not.
Basketball is a hard sport to compare based purely on the fact that it's so star oriented.

This is the difference. It comes down to the youth academies. Everything in the youth soccer system is Europe is about development, that is the single goal. The US youth soccer system is mostly about competition and winning, as early and as often as possible.

Its cheaper to get on a field or in a gym and drill skills all day, but then you can't sell roster spots for $5,000 per player to go play in the world series every other weekend.
Euros treat sports like a job with the goal being to get better all the way up to the pros. Americans treat it as a competition where the ultimate goal is to beat the dad that lives in the next town over this week.

We also have a broad population that can support multiple sports. The US just got worked by Belgium. Belgium has a population less than the state of North Carolina. There are around 450,000 registered players in their country and 14.5 million registered players in the US.
It's a development problem, not an issue of a crowded sports landscape.
