Barkley also wasn't as fat as people make him out to have been

Yup. Even at Auburn he wasn't "fat." He was just thicker than your average basketball player at his height.

Don't know if he is fat but Frank Thomas. At the SEC championship in 97 with Auburn v UT, I sat next to Frank at a sportsbar in downtown Atl before the game. He ordered 2 cheeseburgers, a chicken finger meal, 24 wings and probobly drank 15 beers. Finished everything, it was awesome.

Babe was fit in his younger days. Most people know him by what he looked like toward the end of his career, when he was fat. Partially because there was so much more media compared to early in his career.

The title made me think maybe look at SUmo wrestlers.

Size plus success in his sport? Konishiki Yasokichi

Not as big but more successful, the Michael Jordan of Sumo, Hakuho Sho.

Most of babe’s career he was around 215. At 6’2” I think that is pretty normal by today’s standards. Butter Bean is the correct answer.

My dad coached against Barkley in high school and said he was pretty chunky then and slimed up at auburn.
They weren’t that good (chucks team) and had another kid going to college, and they had nothing about Barkley in the scouting report.

At halftime Barkley had put like half the team in foul trouble and was just whipping their butt, and almost beat them himself. Dads team finished second in the state and had a nba player on it. Said Barkley just pushed them around like children

Two names I haven't seen in the thread worth mentioning:

George Foreman in his 40s comeback

Andre the fricking Giant.

ETA: an actor for special consideration: Chris Farley greeting the Late Night Show audience

Reggie White was not fat. And certainly not by DL standards.
