Vanderbilt is a glaring omission from this list.

Vanderbilt has been relevant for 10 years and one coach. Let’s check back in 15 years.
No disrespect. They are on an LSU trajectory. Let’s see if they can keep it.

Vanderbilt has more CWS titles than Florida and Florida State combined, who are on that list. They certainly belong.

Would you consider Villanova a blue blood in basketball?

I was referring specifically to that particular list of schools. Vanderbilt was a glaring omission from that list.

It's an interesting question because until the college World Series became a "thing" (televised by ESPN) in the 80s very few people paid attention to college baseball.
College football/basketball were big deals going back to the early/middle part of the 1900s so a few programs established themselves as "blue bloods" long before college baseball became more well known.
One could argue that USC dominated a sport nobody really cared about at the time, while LSU dominated the sport when the competition was much stronger and many more eyes watching.
Whatever the definition, if "blue blood" means a championship dynasty with a consistent history of success, LSU is absolutely a baseball blue blood. It's really not debatable.

Then so is Notre Dame in football.
Notre dame has played for championships this century. They have multiple top 10 finishes.
USC has made the ncaa tourney twice in the last 20 years. No I didn’t say Omaha. I said tourney, 64 team field, twice in the last 20 years. Real blue blood there.

Bingo. A lot of the people who still hold USC to the blue blood standard are no younger than 45

LSU
USC
Texas
Arizona St
That’s about it.
Miami and Oklahoma State would be the next tier.

For me the 3 true blue bloods are USC
Judging USC is tough. Yes they have been to and won the CWS more than anyone, but they haven’t done much in the last 30 years or so.

And on top of that, those titles and appearances were before the CBB boom of the late 80s.

LSU has won more CWS titles than ASU (5) and has won the same amount as Texas (6). Only one other school, USC, has won more. They've won 12.
1. USC
2. LSU

4. Arizona State

Ergo those who don't know the definition of blue blood.
College baseball didn't start in the last 20 years just because your favorite started winning. And the age old argue nobody cared until my team started winning is sophmooric.
Late to the party does not a blue blood make.
Very few people in this thread even understand what that that term means. Its the opposite of what you thin it means, hot teams the last 20 years. Great program yes, blue blood sorry...too late to make that claim.

That’s bullshite. And there’s no definitive definition of a blue blood. Everyone’s definition is different. But I’m js, if you think USC is still a blue blood and LSU is not, you’re just dead wrong. Plain and simple.

How are y’all forgetting about Arizona?

4x runner up
18x CWS participant

You have a team with 0 titles in the same tier with a team that has the 2nd most titles in the history of the sport…think about that.

This entire thread has been hilarious and the OP started it off with a pretty big bang at that.

LSU has beaten the frick out of teams but that is since 1986.
LSU is to baseball what Florida is to football… a team which has had a lot of success over the past 30+ years but not a blue blood.

Except for having double the national titles?

People underrate ASU...when they have one of the best cases for blue blood.
54 consecutive 30 win seasons.
ASU has been nationally ranked during at least a part of every season of their 58-year history until 2017.
The Sun Devils have finished 27 times in the Top 10.
22 times in the Top 5.
5 times as the No. 1 team in the nation.
Between 1958-1988...USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, Miami and Texas won 75% of CWS titles.
Most CWS wins:
1. Texas
2. USC
3. ASU
Most CWS Finals appearances:
1. USC
2. Texas
3. ASU
