Which was the better overall product: Cubs/Sox on WGN or Braves on TBS?

A lot of us here grew up watching both these channels in the 80’s and 90’s but which station had the overall better production of the game?

WGN and the Cubs, because they played all of those day games. Gave you something to do if you took off from work.
Harry Cary drunk announcing and the guest 7th inning stretch "Take me out to the Ballgame" singer was a big plus.

As a visual/audio experience . . . looking at Wrigley field and the surrounding area and listening to Harry Caray and Steve stone by a mile.

WGN Steve Stone and Harry were always entertaining to listen to even though the Cubs usually sucked

WGN by a mile.
Harry Carey alone made it worth it. Plus all the day games on after school times.

Also gave you both leagues.

I’m partial to TBS and the Braves. Especially the west coast trips when I could stay up late on the weekends watching them start at 10 pm

WGN
And especially when Harry was drunk on the telecast.

Nothing will ever beat the Southwest Airlines Plane View Camera on WGN

Southwest ads were great, too. $99 from Chicago to Boston featured a bunch of people trying out their Boston accents.
"I'll give you a dawla faw a tawnic".
"Tha cawnsut was wicked hahdcoah".
"Pahk tha cah".

Billy Sample's Braves announcing would put a dead guy to sleep. He was so boring.

This. Wrigley field is an attraction by itself.
Harry was usually sloshed by the 5th inning, so it was always fun to see how Steve would just roll with it.

I liked Hawk and Wimpy when Big Hurt was in his prime.

The Cubs broadcasts in the late 80s were always the best. The views of the lake, great crowd shots, and of course Harry. The TBS broadcasts pre-1991 were tough because the Braves were so bad and the attendance was awful, I’m talking some games the announced attendance was under 3000. As Harry aged in the 1990s and the Braves became a powerhouse, the TBS coverage seemed to get so much better because not only were you getting to watch one of the best teams in the game on a nightly basis but the bandwagon began to roll and they had great crowds at Fulton County.

I wish Harry Caray could have seen that Kerry Wood game and Slamming Sammy… he passed away in spring training of that year

Many a 90s school nights were spent sneaking to our upstairs TV while my parents were downstairs.
